I'm heading back to my home state of Montana for winter break to go lion hunting, and I just bought a Glock 20 that I want to use to kill the lion with. I called ahead to a couple sporting goods stores and my options are limited as far as ammo goes. I can basically choose between a Federal Premium 180 gr. JHP or a Blazer 200 gr. TMJ. Which would you choose and why? FYI, I leave tomorrow.

Thanks!

Dan

PS: I absolutely LOVE this gun. I saved up for a long time to buy it, and it is exactly what I wanted. It's surprisingly accurate as well!

you're a better man than me to want a cat that close. bears don't freak me out as much as cougars... the thought of being stalked by one and not knowing where it is keeps me on high alert in the woods... good luck...

Use the Federal 180 gr. JHP. Cougars are thin skinned, and relatively easy to kill. I've seen them killed with a single shot from a 9mm handgun.

Good luck on your hunt.

Hope this helps.

Use the Federal 180 gr. JHP.

I agree with Fred on the Federal 180 grain hydra shok, but I also recommend using a Rifle, you know assistance from a distance.

Depends where you hunting our mountain lions at, you may be able to pick up some Buffalo Bore Ammunition, as they do carry it here in Kalispell area. I believe Sportsman's Warehouse in Missoula carries it as well, but check first.

I generally find that 3-4 extra dry martinis fired from a standard V or highball glass will do the trick in my neck of the woods.

I'd use the 135 grain Noslers. Plenty of velocity and lots of expansion. Anything bigger is just going to blow right through without too much shock. As long as it isn't a "Texas Brain Shot", it should exit.
