If you are stopped by a LEO and are armed legally, the last thing you want to do is pi** him off.

I could really care less wether or not he is pi**ed off. I am still going to be polite and respectfull to a point. If I did something wrong I will man up if I didn't I will respectfully disagree with the the officer on the scene and then take the fight to the judge. Personally I dont care what type of day he is having.

I dont want a bright shiney target on my belt or around my neck to give the creeps a point of aim. I also don't want somebody coming up to me and telling me about the bum around the corner peeing on the dumpster beacuse they think I am a cop.

the way i was told to respond if stopped is to hold arms out of the window inform the officer that i have a concealed weapon and permit and do everything he says . its better to let them up front then to let them see it by accident and have to go thru the whole armed and possible thing . friend got pulled over a few years ago and all they did was check his permit and gun remove the bullets everything came back clean gave it back and went on thier way . as for a badge sometime cary and sometimes not.

a waste of money....they offer you no help if you showed one after an armed confrontation....im telling you this because im a cop and i dont care what the badge says, a cop in plain clothes is still dropping his gun until i know for sure who he is....

but if you want one to show off to mall ninjas and what not go ahead, but id buy ammo with the same money instead.

as a plains clothes guy, I agree, it doesn't do you any good, after the shooting ends, put your gun down and expect the uniforms to take action to protect themselves, after all, they don't know exactly what has happened other than 'shots fired,' and they still want to go home to their families in one piece after their shift. . .

I remember an incident where two FBI agents were conducting a routine 'knock and talk,' well someone spotted a gun on the belt and didn't see the little FBI badge. . . The locals show up and draw down on the FBI agent. Instead of him just using common sense and complying with the commands, it turned into a show down. The FBI agent was very lucky he didn't get shot. . . Had it been a different officer responding, the outcome may have ended differently. . .

I'm also a cop in Alabama. I've been handed a few "CCW Badges" They aren't worth the zinc they're made of. These badge don't piss me off, actually I kinda laugh at them later. tf.gif

The badges that piss me off the most are the "Sheriff's Posse" or "Honorary Deputy" bagde that sheriffs hand out to buy support or votes. The last guy that flashed me the badge asked me " Did you see my badge?" I replied "Yes sir, I did, it's nice. Please sign here." really.gif

Those are pretty assinine.

Maybe we should have a group buy on Armory CCW badges.

Reminds me of a guy I used to know. Was one of the oncall people for the local OEM. His OEM job didn't really exist unless he was training or the mayor activated him in an emergency. Despite that he had his car rigged out with more flashing red lights than a rave, a spot light on the drivers door like a police car, and even had some kind of security or something another badge hanging from the wire going to the spotlight. He thought he was hot stuff because he looked all official and like a cop. He would also occasionally "test" his lights in public parking lots to make sure everything worked properly. I just wondered if he paid for all the car toys or if my taxes did.

When I worked as an Armed Security Officer, I acted respectfully and did as told by the local LEO involved with the situation. We all acted as professionals and watched out for each other.

The CCW badges are needless (and pointless.) After an altercation/shooting we would work with them and "sort things out."

Don't waste your money.
