Do any of you guys work at a place where the guy that doesnt have to ask anyone else allows CC? Do you guys know if most places do, any places do? etc.

I always figured I would go to a job interview, and during the course of back and forth I would ask "Hey, I have a concealed carry permit for this state. I utilize it every day. Is that a problem around here?"

i would ask if they have a policy about weapons on the ground. dont ask them if you cand carry a gun at work!! and if then ask say you carry a pocket knife or a shotgun in your truck. if they get in to it ask them what they mean by weapons. it should be a good way to talk about it with out asking if i can carry a gun at work

I am allowed to have my gun in my car at work, but not in the store. Im pretty sure thats how most places are.

And I wouldnt bring up the gun at the interview. Bring it up once you get the job.

Yup, that would be a great way to not get hired. When going through an interview you need to focus on the companies goals and what you have to offer them. Bringing up concealed carry would most likely turn off potential employers because it shows where your priorities are.

As I work at a gun range, it is no issue. I used to work at a place where it was a big no-no. The uniform I had to wear precluded me wearing even a pocket size .380. So, I wore a NAA Mini Revolver.

Well, I'm the boss. smile.gif My office is VERY gun friendly. We have 2A stuff around, guns around, cases of ammo, NRA paraphernalia all around. Gun parts and ammo are delivered on a regular basis. It's actually pretty funny- when I bring in an AR, everyone likes to fool around with it.

Not sure I'd be ballsy enough to ask about CCW in an interview either. Probably most places is better don't ask, don't tell - better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6!!

Unless there is a written/otherwise stated company policy that specifically forbids CCW, I would not even mention it or bring it up.
After all that's why its called concealed. wink.gif And your not gonna be showing it anyway as it's a CCW.
Depending on the type of work you will be doing may determine how you carry. Sitting in a cubicle vs. a construction job vs. a warehouse, etc...
you get the idea.

I guess I take a don't ask don't tell approach. There is no need for anyone to know that I have a weapon and I prefer it that way.

My last job, there was a policy specifically prohibiting any/all firearms. I didn't ask, I didn't tell, I just carried. I kept it well hidden, and knew that if I ever had to use it, I'd be looking for a job. At that point, if I'm defending my life or someone else's life, keeping a job is the least of my concerns.

I worked at walmart several years back, and not thinking one night (worked overnight stock) walked in with my glock in the inside pocket of my jacket. This walmart was in Toccoa, GA, if you've ever been there, you'll know why I made it a point to carry. Anyway, this was my 2nd week there and I asked my supervisor non-chalantly about having a weapon on grounds. He looked at me funny then said there was nothing prohibiting customers but employees weren't allowed to have weapons on their person or in the POV. On break I'd made a point to take the glock to my car. He later asked if I had a gun in my vehicle, I told him it was none of his concern, he then told me he could search my vehicle and if I had a gun in there he could fire me. I looked him dead in the eye and said "Sir, this isn't highschool, this is the real world and the O.C.G.A. states that my car is my property and that no employer or private company has the right to search my vehicle for any reason" there happened to be an officer in the store a little later as they tended to drop in at night (toccoa is basically a big ghetto) and he brought the officer to me and said "I'd like you to search his car." The officer asked why and he said that he believed I had a firearm in my vehicle and company policy forbade that. The officer asked me about it, I said yes I did and handed him my CCW. He then turned to the super and said "your employ has the right to have a weapon concealed on his person outside of work, and everyone in the state of GA can have a weapon in their car so long as they can legally own it. Walmart cannot supersede state law." bigsmile.gif Of course that jackass had it out for me from then on but it was great to have a cop rub his nose in it. Of course my advice is never work for walmart, sorry ass employers. I'm hoping my next job is either going to be with a gun store here in town, or a manufacturer about 10 miles out. No more worrying about whether or not I'll be fired for protecting myself.

i carried at my winter job and never told a soul. there was no policy as far as i know, and the owner was pretty (ok, very) gun friendly, not that he was ever around. if you're carrying correctly, the only time anybody notices you have a gun is when they're also grateful for that fact. hopefully, they never have to find out.

So you had to have a CCW to be able to keep the pistol in the car to over ride WM policy?
Here in NM, our car is considered an extension of our home without a CCW.
Also if any private business decides to post a NO FIREARMS sign, then we have to abide, regardless of NM's CCW law. IOW, that business can supersede state law.
At least that's my understanding. But NM is often a bit different in some ways.

no, you gotta read everything "everyone in the state of GA can have a weapon in their car so long as they can legally own it. " The only odd thing about GA is that you have to have your CCW to open carry. As I understand it most "free" states don't care if you open carry. Same in GA with the businesses as well, if they post no firearms, then you have to abide, or if they ask you to leave the premises. But no one can tell you you can't have a weapon in your own vehicle. It came up a couple years ago when some people were fired because they're bosses drove through and saw they had a rifle or something in their vehicle. GA changed laws to reflect that a vehicle is an extension of home and therefor you can have the weapon in your vehicle at work and they can't do anything. Now if you don't have a CCW you have to have it in a glove box or center console, where as if you do you can have it anywhere in the vehicle. That changed as well as it used to be that if you had a weapon in your vehicle with out permit the magazine(s) and any ammo had to be out of reach or at least 5-6 feet from the weapon (this i think was for ppl who had shotguns or rifles in single cab trucks) at any rate it was so you could "not have the weapon readily available" which was mostly to mean so you couldn't get it and shoot the officer that pulled you over.

Indeed. I don't understand the people who have to let everyone know they are carrying. IMO, it just makes them target #1 if something is going down anyways.
