Ok I need some advise. I recently joined the 10mm club. I have wanted one for a while but of course do to the economy I havent. Well I decided to help out the family some and sell my Kimber collection and use that money for bills. WOE IS ME!!! But I took some of that money and bought a SW1006. I want to know what is a good holster to carry it in. I live in the warmer weather most of the year. Maybe a outside the waist holster. Maybe a IWB holster. (that is how I carried my Kimber.) But I am also looking at a shoulder holster. I usually wear shorts or trousers with a tee-shirt and a Hawaiian shirt worn on the outside untucked and open. What do al of you fellow 10mm fans think.

Please give me some ideas and some brands that fit them THANKS

For me it's outside the waistband. The 1006 is a beast, thought not impossible, to IWB with.
Google up Smith 1006 holsters... and you find lots of choices and various holster experiences people have with their 1006's, etc.
It is a personal choice how you carry these. Mine is under a 5.11 vest and carried outside WB on the rare times when I do carry it.

Scott,

See the Sickinger or Milt Sparks line of great leather holsters:

http://www.sickinger.at/Englisch/Sites/home.htm

Order no. 62409 for the Lightning FBI (black) or Order no 62272 for the Quick Defense holster for S&W M 1006.

Or a 55BN, IBAK, NLG http://www.miltsparks.com/

They fit perfect and you can carry them all day long. I love my Sickinger and Milt Sparks holsters. thumb.gif

I have a better idea to solve your concealment problem:

The lifeline Shoulder Rig from Ted Blocker Holsters.

www.tedblockerholsters.com

The Lifeline Shoulder Rig is an excellent choice for concealment. This top-grain cowhide and all metal shoulder rig is fully adjutable, and all connections swivel for comfortable, continuous wear. Each rig includes the harness, holster, double magazine pouch and two removable tie-downs.

This rig was the first used by Don Johnson in the Miami Vice Television series. It wears EXTREMELY well and is VERY comfortable! I have been to thier showroom in Tigard, Oregon and was never more impressed with their service and selection.

Ted Blocker Holsters
9438 SW Tigard Street
Tigard, OR. 97223

I hope that this information aids you in your quest.

As others have said, the 1006 is big and heavy. I'd check Milt Sparks for some nice leather love for that 1006.

A couple years ago I picked up an Aker holster for the S&W 45xx series, which of course is the same frame as the 10xx series guns. When I picked up a 1026 recently I dug out the Aker and have been wearing it almost daily. I also like to have a 'quick on-quick off' option so I just got an Aker paddle holster for it as well. The Aker holsters seem to be very well made and are reasonably priced and I've been very happy with them. The don't tuck the gun in as close to the body as I'd like, but with a jacket or loose shirt they work fine.

Seems like I posted a reply to this question before.

I bought s Sparks CoverSix for my 1006/1066.

It's an IWB leather holster that is quite thin.

It does not have the re-enforce hold open spring/leather
thingy to keep the holster open for re-holstering. If that
makes any sence at all. Does make it thinner though.

It works well. Holds the gun tight to the body.

Nothing wrong with the holster. The usual Sparks
quality. My problem is these guns are just to heavy
for me to grow acustom to carrying all day.

YMMV

Jon
