I have a Colt 6920 carbine rifle but would like to have a midlength quad rail. Is this possible without changing to a midlength barrel? I think it's doable by making the correct choices. Can anybody advise or recommend? Thank you.

You would need a low-profile gas block and then you could install a longer rail system that would cover the Gas block.

You can keep the standard front sight if you use a DD Lite 9.5 FSP (link).

That's a great looking rail. I'm trying to learn as much as possible before visiting my local tactical gun shop. If you keep the standard A2 front sight does it not get in the way of an optical sight mounted on the flat top (future purchase)? Also, I'm not clear on how a free float rail is supported on the muzzle end. That's a dumb question I think, if it's free floating that implies the rail doesn't touch the barrel!

I'm leaning toward a DD Omega 9 Mid Length, the continuous rail seems like a good design and it looks good too. Any thoughts on a good pair of flip up sights. I like the idea of having the ability to change the read peep site to a larger apecture for quicker sighting. Any suggestions are appreciated.

The Omega 9.0 won't cover the gas block completely. You will need a longer rail to do that.

You would need a very low-profile gas block for the omega also, you would be better served using a 10" DD Lite Rail or something similar with a DD Lo-profile Gas block.

You can cut down your front sight base to have the toughest and one of the smallest gas blocks.

bays_mtn_rifle welcome.gif to the Armory, do you use a Vertical Forward Grip or prefer holding with your hand?
