In that the "cats out of the bag" over on arfcom (and several other internet forums as well) concerning the IWI Tavor, I thought I should make this forum aware of what's going on.

KBI is teaming up with IWI, following the successful transition of the Jericho pistol line to KBI from Magnum, to bring the Tavor bullpup carbines and rifles to the US market. They will be built in the US from Israeli and American components. Formal introduction to the industry will occur at the 2010 SHOT Show.

As we did with our entry into the AR-15 market, we are soliciting opinions from the shooting community on certain features/construction to incorporate into the production.

The current topic in the thread on AR-15 com is whether or not to use the original 14.95" barrel (CTAR model) with a pinned flash suppressor vs. going with a 16" barrel with a removable flash suppressor. You can read all, or the portion of the thread that concerns this topic, (on pages 18 through 20), by clicking here.

We would like your opinions also. Please feel free to post here, on arfcom, or on The Charles Daly Forum with any questions or comments you may have.

I'll be doing some more reading later. But I am just not real comfortable with bullpups.
And my project #1 is a 6.8 spc.
I owned a Bushmaster pistol that I still kick myself for selling. The combination of the AK gas system and the AR locking system made for a really reliable weapon with supriseing accuracy.

I am not a huge fan of bullpups, but if CD is going to make them, I might have to give it a try. I'd personally prefer the 16" barrel with the removable flash hider. I like an overall shorter package, but I prefer to fit my own FH.

Not a huge fan of bullpups either, Charles Daly has an excellent rifle and I would not try to fix or change anything that is not broken.

Sweet. Id prefer the 16 in bbl with the removable flash hider.

Are those the guns that have the red dot wired to the safety?

Neil,

We are not trying to fix anything with the Tavor, just adding another offering to our product line. As a bullpup, we think that the Tavor doesn't compete with our AR's.

We will continue to produce our CDD-15 carbines and rifles, and will be adding many new configurations to that line, now that the buying frenzy is over.

Also, we will be introducing another new carbine soon, the "JR". This is a US made carbine that looks like an AR but functions more like a handgun. It uses many parts and components that are in AR's, like the buttstock, grip, fire control group, forearm (quad or tube; must be freefloat), and has a picatinny flattop. It will be chambered for centerfire pistol cartridges with the first offerings in 9mm, .40S&W and .45ACP.

So for 2010 we will have 3 lines of carbines and rifles, (AR, JR and Tavor), all quite different from each other, all at different price points and all appealing to different market segments.

CD,

That is AWSOME!

I will be contacting you as soon as I get my 07 ffl.

I like Bullpups, but hey I like piston driven AR's too, so I guess I am different. wink.gif

I would like to learn more about the rifle, and I would be very interested in discussing some things off line with you.

From our experience, we sell 16" uppers 2 to 1 over 14.5" uppers if that helps you guys any?

I would also consider a good quality compensator with a flash suppression capability, and I have a couple of suggestion that we can discuss off line if you do not mind.

I will PM you.

Thanks for sharing, and I wish you guys great success with this new rifle.

Chris

I like the look, I would go with the 16" over the pinned muzzle attachment personally. I have heard you guys make wonderful rifle, have not had a chance to try one yet. That would definitely make a collection a lot more diverse.

I agree with going with a 16" over the fixed 14". it's just more versatile, and I like versatile. I've was always interested in the bull pup design, but never pulled the trigger on purchase.... or the actual trigger of one. I also agree if CD is making them, i am now considering it. really.gif

Are they going to be as monstrous as the one pictured? or more like a conventional AR? If the latter sign me up for a .45. I have a Beretta CX4 Storm in .45 that I love, but only 10 rd mags!

That's great! More bullpups on the market, competing with FN FS2000 and Steyr AUG and the American clones. I say, the more the better.

That is really one tough question. It appears by your choices you pretty much eliminate the length for size concern so I'd have to say if I was in the market the little extra muzzle velocity the 16" would offer would be more attractive of the two options.

Of course, the ability to remove the flash suppressor has a distinct market appeal as well.
