Anyone done any work loading for 8-9" barrels? Any Contender guys or Oly SBR guys?

Vector is releasing thier new toy soon, I'm wondering if someone has already created this wheel. Is 200gr @ 1600 possible?

Don't know if thats possible or not, but there are a couple of guys here that have some AR-style carbines in 10mm. Also don't reload... yet. Will look more into load data...

ya don't know until you you've worked it up an chronoed it. You're not likely to get a major boost in velocity by going to differant powders but you might be able to get powders that are too slow for good velocity in a pistol to post good numbers in a carbine.

Ulitimately the pressure spike that is the limiting factor occurse pretty early on in a pistol round so you don't pick up as much velocity going to a longer barrel as you loose going to a shorter barrel in a rifle round. Whatever the velocity of a max load of AA #9 gives you out of the carbine is going to be your best numbers in a 200 gr buellet and will probably be compedative with AA #7 with lighter bullets in longer barrels but the only way to find out it to chrono the loads from the gun.

I have a T/C Contender carbine with a 18.5" barrel in 10mm. With 9.6grs of IMR 800X and a 200gr Hornady XTP I get an average velocity of about 1450fps to 1500fps. With 13.5grs of the same powder and a 135gr Nosler HP I am getting an average velocity of about 2030fps.

Woooo! okee, so 200 @ 1600 is obviously out, but wow... 135@2030! 18.5" barrel huh? That's a long ol' barrel!

My 1006 launches 135's around 1525 - 1550 w/ 10.6 of PowerPistol. I suppose I'm looking for too much from just another 3¾".

From what I have read, I think that peak velocities for a 10mm would be with a barrel of about 10 to 12 inches in length. The 10mm reaches its top velocities very quickly so other than for legal reasons you don't need a barrel as long as mine.

"YES" it is a fun little rifle to pack around and plink with. Just this last Sunday I went up into the local mountains put my pack on and with my G20 and my T/C with a 4X mini Burris scope their where not many things that didn't get shot.

I'm also looking at getting a Vector 10mm H&K clone. I don't think that loading this particular firearm hot is a good thing to do. This weapon starts off as a modified 9mm as far as designs go. If you are looking for warm to hot loads than the #25 locking piece is a must, without the gun will beat itself to an early grave.
