I would be interested in any experiences, thoughts, or opinions about the difference in Captured vs Non-Captured springs in the G20.

The particulars: Will be using the G20 as daily carry but also to take a Black Bear over bait (we do that a lot here in AK). Will use either DT200 or DT230. I'm going up to a 22lb spring since I will rarely fire "normal" power loads and then only at the range.

So are there any advantages in either spring/rod configuration?

TIA

AK_Greybear. Welcome to 10mmTalk! welcome.gif

I am using a "NON CAPTURED" recoil rod and #21 springs from Wolff for my G-29. This is a dual spring system for this small pistol and it works reliably.

Tha advantage on the "NON CAPTURED" system is it is easier to change springs out to tune the pistol. My factory captured rod had the end start to tear and the spring started to come past the plastic button, Glock replaced it but I decided to go with the Wolff system for my needs.

Be advised that there are many systems for the G-20, some captured and some non captured.

Warning! Using too much spring (over #22 for the G-20 over #21 for the G-29) will make it tough to rack the slide during stressful situations...

Best regards and good luck! thumbsup.gif

Thanks, Shadow.

As far a the stiffer rack, I carry one in the tube.

As to stiffer rack after FTF, FTE, etc, in a "dispute" situation, I expect the extra adrenaline will suffice to make up the difference. BTDT smile.gif

AK_Greybear; BTW, What evil does lurk in the hearts of men?

The Seven Sins...
Lust (Latin, luxuria)
Gluttony (Latin, gula)
Greed (Latin, avaritia)
Sloth (Latin, acedia)
Wrath (Latin, ira)
Envy (Latin, invidia)
Pride (Latin, superbia)

Pride is excessive belief in one's own abilities, that interferes with the individual's recognition of the grace of God. It has been called the sin from which all others arise. Pride is also known as Vanity.

Envy is the desire for others' traits, status, abilities, or situation.

Gluttony is an inordinate desire to consume more than that which one requires.

Lust is an inordinate craving for the pleasures of the body.

Anger is manifested in the individual who spurns love and opts instead for fury. It is also known as Wrath.

Greed is the desire for material wealth or gain, ignoring the realm of the spiritual. It is also called Avarice or Covetousness.

Sloth is the avoidance of physical or spiritual work.

ps, It is refreshing to find literacy on the internet...and a gun whacko too! I can even overlook your being from LA. Not everyone can be born in TX laugh.gif Really nice to meet you Shadow.

Edited to add...interesting to note that the system added the asterisks in a quote from the Latin Missal.

I run a Lightening Strike SS captured rod and 22lb spring in my G20.
Been using it for about 2 years with no problems.
Works well with either the standard barrel,Glock 6" barrel or a LWD 6" SS barrel.
