Ammo is nothing to mess around with when shooting we want to use this thread is to monitor any manufacturers that sell bad ammo and will not support the customer.

I got my current AR from a guy that couldn't get it to cycle, he was using Remington UMC Ammo. My reloads are good to go.

I've only put about 40 rounds of UMC through mine, but they worked fine. But now I'm suspicious of the 100 or so I have left... unsure.gif

Another ammo to stay away from is Olympic (not affiliated with Olympic Arms). Out of ten rounds fired three failed to feed and two misfired with a firing pin indention on the primer. These were made in Greece.

Olympic ammo is made like a second grader was given a reloading set and just played with it. Inconsistent, every type of feeding malfuction.

Adcom, made in the UAE. The good rounds are/were good, but some rounds barely have a powder charge and others are loaded very hot. I've had quite a few cases lodged in a barrel. Some bullets aren't seated well, too long or bullet set back.

I personally haven't had any problems with Remington/UMC but what I have stored and what I have used is at least two years old.

the 100 Rem UMC 55gr I picked up shot without failures, but they were all over the place and some sounded like they detonated on the primer just like that batch of Silver Bear I got did, the biggest issue I had with the Silver Bear was the one rd that blazed by My ear still burning powder like all get out and the one that I thought had blown up in the chamber it sounded like a damned M80 firecracker and made Stu jump with earmuffs on, me I got the full experience as I was shooting sans hearing protection

I had a similar experience with UMC ammo in my Keltec P32. It did not develop enough pressure to load the next round.

ill second the bad UMC. being a newbie, picked up two 50rnd boxes from walmart and had nothing but problems. jamming every 3rd or so round, then finally one just plain stuck in the chamber, bolt wouldnt pull back. the range officer helped me by pulling the bolt down while banging the stock on the table. scary for me to say the least

so i gave the last 20 or so rounds to the guy next to me. he said he could use them in something! go figure

Wolf is really a different category. Some rifles will shoot it with no problems and some won't, even AR's from the same manufacturer.

1)If you mix brass and Wolf carbon/powder will stick to the sides of the brass cases and "jam" causing you to have to knock the brass out with a cleaning rod.

2)Some rifles don't have a true 5.56 chamber and the Wolf will jam due to the chamber being tight.

So, buy one box of Wolf (or any other steel case ammo) to see if it will work in your rifle... And don't mix steel and brass ammo. Clean the chamber after shooting Wolf if brass is what you're going to shoot next.

Great...I just bought a half case of Wolf 75 gr. HP's. So as long as I don't mix these and my normal brass rounds, I should be alright? How much extra cleaning do I need to do after shooting them?

Just a little oil and use of the chamber brush. Maybe a patch or two it you feel like it.

Well, everything I have heard says stay away from Wolf. Steel caseings are coated with laquer to seal them, gun gets hot and laquer melts.

If you get the steel cases that are zinc coated they dont have lacquaor on them. Silver Bear doesnt have it on it tf.gif tf.gif and ive shot several thousand rounds out of my dpms with no problems. I just use this ammo for target practice. Keep the good brass case for more important issues that may come along.
