Well that explains it. WV has some of the best ATV parks in the US, the Hatfield and McCoy system. If they ever connect them all like they plan, people will be able to ride from Charleston to the VA border. Do a google on it, it will blow your mind. They're a bunch of strip mines all converted to ATV parks which would explain the mud and corrosion. They're very similar to Coal Creek which I ride here, over 200 miles of trails.

I'd say that ATV has seen some trails that are simply beautiful in its day. Some of those in WV they still use the mine railroad tressels over the gorges and the ATVs run them hundreds of feet up. They have like five all within driving distance of each other.

If you are up for a group adventure, Ill let you know the next one planned. We did OK last may just before they shut it down to ATVs. That was a hoot with over a dozen ATVs going over 150 miles in convoy, camping, and running with the wild horses. The guys came from all over but mainly TX, San Antonio and Dallas areas.

Yep, it has a 2009 sticker for Hatfield McCoy system. Sounds like fun.

Here's a pic of one of the camps on that OK trip. That's my ATV and bike in the center picture and my fat ass before I lost weight. Great folks, we had a hell of a good time. Damn hot days and the swimming hole was ice cold too. All gun enthusiasts.

This is a great hobby. All you need is an ATV, a trailer, and the willingness to travel a little and more adventure awaits you than most people can imagine.

The second day the guys hooked my trailer to one of the bigger ATVs and we had cold beer that night, mass quantities. wink.gif

That Bruteforce you just bought will pull a small trailer in its sleep. You can take all the comforts of home.

The camp the second night was a much higher elevation so downright cool temps at night which was good sleeping.

The guys I ride with from OH and PA all do the Hatfield and McCoy system.

We've done two here where I live. Coal Creek is considered the best ATV system in the SE. Its a lot more civilized now though with a very nice ATV friendly campground that even has small cabins and a shower house, downright Holiday Inn ATV riding. To get to the trails, you go almost straight up over 3,000 ft in elevation and the temps drop a good 10 degrees in summer so like air-conditioning. Great riding, you can go miles and miles on straight trails or try to get stuck in the mud if you want to.

We typically do a long weekend and folks come and go as their individual schedules permit. There's always new people but typically one or two I have camped with for a little over eight years now. Every night is typically a drink around the fire then gun talk. That's about as fun as the riding.

Must be nice, just received custody of my dad's 2005 Honda Forman-Rubicon 500. And have almost nowhere to ride it. In CT ATV's not allowed on state land (only licensed motorcycles and snowmachines(?)) But yet they want you to register them so you can pay taxes and fees!B.S.!

It has only 110 hrs on the meter! It came with a 60" 'State' plow. and Warn 2.5 winch (need to replace the cable)

That is a nice quad Oak. It should have more than enough power for what ever you need. I have always wanted to make it down to Hatfield and McCoy or Coal Creek. I guess that's been one of those "Get around to it" things that has not happened yet. I have a Yamaha Grizzly with a tilt back trailer that makes getting deer out of the woods a pleasure.

Here's the Grizz while playing in the snow.

Yeah but it's new isn't it? And not only the exhaust, but the motor/header (whatever that round pipe is), and the front wheel where the bolts are at..

Don't get me wrong, its a nice quad (also on my list laugh.gif) but I coulda swore it was new?

Edit: ahhh I thought it was new Oak lol. Either way, I can't wait to see some seaon pics of it with a lil mud on the tires thumbsup.gif

Our ATV's have a bit of that coloring on them from the red river mud and sand we ride in. Some parts keep that color eventhough they aren't rusted depending on the texture of the surface. Some of the cast parts especially. ATV's have a ton of nooks and crannies that are supremely hard to clean, and unless you are just over the moon anal about cleaning them, it's gonna stay there. I get mine muddy everytime I take them out, and I try to clean them as best as I can, but I don't just go nuts over it. I take the body panels off and give it some pressured water, scrub brushes and soap. But there's still a lot of places ya just can't get to and some spots that just are hard to get the red sand color out of. And like others said, once the exhaust heats up, the finish changes and is forever discolored.

Oak, that's a damn NICE ATV!! I likes it! Hope you have a lot of good times on it. If you get a chance to snap a few riding/camping pics with it, please post 'em up. The wife and I are just itching for it to snow so we can take ours out in it.
