Hey Guys,

I am new to the forum and just wanted to say hey and maybe get an answer for a question about the legality of the following youtube link.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DgB3lSI8Fx4...feature=related

Is this guy correct in his video. Can you really keep a riffle off the books legally by assembling it in this manner? 1huh.gif 1huh.gif

Thanks in advance!

Asking for legal advice on the internet is teh dangerous. Federally, finishing 80 receivers is legal from a federal perspective. You'd need to research the state statutes for Texas to see what they require for finished firearms.

Texas has really light gun laws outside of hunting rules. A good place to ask about this would be AR15 Plus Store. An outfit out of Houston that sells a lot of 80% receivers.

Some things I've read about doing this is you cannot pay for any pro machining help, you can never sell them ever, only legal transfer is in your will, you still cannot make an NFA weapon this way, and you are pretty much never going to be able to take it to an armorer or ship it out for a gun service.

You will also need a mill machine and drill press, along with the machining skills since anyone else doing it violates the law unless they keep it for themselves forever.

Has anyone ever used the "BAXTER Jig" they offer?

Does not look to difficult.. All the holes are there in the jig.

Only concerned with the "FIT" of the lower to current uppers available

Those are incorrect.

(1) As the "manufacturer" of the firearm (one rifle, not 100's)...label it with your name, location, serial it etc and you can then sell it/trade it.

(2) You can indeed build a rifle, then do the NFA paperwork for conversion to SBR, AOW.

My bad, wasn't thinkin' in the vein of the OP when I posted, you ARE absolutely correct.

That said...trike_21, welcome to the world of home-built firearms. As long as you follow AnonymousD's guidelines and KEEP your firearm then you are good to go.
