I want to build a rifle from scratch and I want a stripped lower without any brand name markings on it. Are there any companies that produce such a thing?

I believe the law requires the manufacturer to put their name, location, serial number, and caliber on all receivers.

There is a company called Tactical Innovations that puts very little stuff on the lower, and its on the opposite side than where most manufacturers put their stuff.

To have a completely blank lower you have to mill the lower yourself and you can never transfer it to anyone else except in your will to family.

Anyone else who makes and sells lowers must have an FFL and put their company name, location, and serialize it. No getting around that.

So unless you have a serious milling machine in your garage and serious machining skills then you can't have a completely blank lower.

A company called Mega Machine makes a lot of custom lowers. Good stuff too. While they cannot get around the law they likely could create the most minimal version of what you want. They could do the absolute minimum allowed by law in the smallest profile possible. That's about as good as you'll get by buying it and they will definitely charge you a custom fee.

If you want this so you can put designs of your own creation on it then Mega can help you there as well. Let them put your custom design on it. They will do a bangup job too.

Their zombie killer lowers were just awesome!

Tactical Innovations lowers are very nice lowers that have less writing and markings on them that any lower I've seen that you can buy stripped. They have a few extra features than most lowers and JTAC has a pretty good deal on them here: click. You have to add one to your cart to see the sale price.

If you're handy (and so inclined) you could always finish an 80% lower. They have no S/N, or any other markings (I think). And it's "under the radar" if that matters to you. On the downside, it will cost more than buying stripped lower (drill bits, jig, reamer, tap) and can't be sold or transferred as mentioned above.

Do you have a link? That sounds really cool, but the only one I could find is apparently for an airsoft gun...

It was a limited run and they rarely show their boutique models on their home website. Most times you see them with their distributors.

But if you have the cash they likely still have the CNC program and could make you one.
