Me and 3 friends went offshore 30 miles out of Sabine Pass Texas on Thursday 8-27-09. We had a great time and boated 12 spanish mackeral and numerous sharks and rays. All sharks and rays were released. On the way back while stopped at a red light, in a school zone we were rear ended in an auto accident. The driver that hit us was apparently negligent, he hit us hard enough to almost destroy the boat, destroy the trailor and do $2500.00 damage to the truck.
everyone was ok, but as you would guess the driver that hit us had no insurance. th_realmad.gif
Here are the pics.

30 miles offshore in that rowboat? Holy crap the guy did you a favor, kept you from going out in it again. J/K at least no one was hurt, stuff can be replaced, that is what uninsured riders are for on an auto policy.

Bummer. It's always that way-the scumbird that hits you has no insurance.

what happens if you don't have insurance?

I've always been intrigued to know this...

However you have insurance, yeah? Should cover the damages.. Sorry to hear. What a crappy way to end a great day :(

If you don't have insurance, you can get sued for the damage. In Florida, if you cause property damage and don't pay, then you can lose your license until you do. Of course, a lot of people don't care about that either.

Having insurance is the responsible thing to do.

Hmm I'm interested to know what other states laws are as well. I know when I didn't have an insurance card (had only the one for the trade in vehicle as I just bought the car 2 weeks prior, non full coverage) I got a failure to provide proof of insurance. So I assume most states it's just a hefty ticket? Mine was $400 somethin

I was rear ended by an uninsured crackhead in Corpus Christi in Sept 2008. Just had my new truck 10 months. The police said he
was a confirmed crackhead and that he had no license or insurance. They pressed the charges for no license and operating a
motor vehicle without a license as well as no insurance. I don't know what happened with the guy as far as with the police, but I
do know that the insurance is persueing him for charges. Whether anything comes from it I wont know. But I am sure glad I had that
uninsured motorist on my insurance.

Funny, how this works. Owning a gun is a right. Driving a car is a priviledge. To buy a gun you have to provide identification, sign a statement that you are not prohibited from purchasing said gun and sometimes wait to get it. To buy a car you need money only, no proof that you are licensed to drive, no proof of insurance. Anyone else see a problem here?

In CO you need proof of insurance. Of course to fiance you need DL and SS#..but yeah if you buy it straight cash..

in CO they won't let you drive off the lot after the papers have been signed until they have proof from the insurance company, that the vehicle is insured.
