They did make a Chinese milled AK. Both Poly Tech and Norinco made one. The most common Chinese one is the MAK 90. The MAK 90 comes as a thumbhole stock. It comes as a milled or steel. Another one is the Bulgarian. They have different models. Arsenal made them.

A milled one is heavier then a stamped AK.

If you can still find one for sale, i would go with a robinson arms "VEPR". Probably the smoothest shooting and accurate AK there is. The problem is that they are expensive. As far as i know they only come in 2 calibers---- 7.62X39 and 308. try GUNBROKER.COM Probably your best bet. Good luck.

I don't claim to know much about ComBloc weapons, But I got my wife a Century GP 1975 and it werks pretty durn good trail.gif

I guess its a Romanian G kit built on parts manufactured after 1975 by the Century International Arms company. I like the synthetic furniture. Accurate too, Got mine for 500$

The Veprs are no longer imported.

They were excellent guns but were not milled.

They came in 7.62x39, .308, 5.56 and 5.45.

They are heavy due to using a reinforced receiver and heavy barrel. They also generally have unthreaded muzzles and are not compatible with standard AK furniture.

I had two of them for a while and they are indeed excellent rifles.

If you give us a price range I think we can point you towards the best bang for your buck pretty easily.

Have you thought about an AK in 5.45?

They are typically a bit more accurate than 7.62 guns although they don't penetrate cover as well.

You can get a decent deal on them through AIM surplus. I think between 5-600.

If your heart is set on a 7.62 gun, I would look for a stamped or milled Chinese MAK90 in that price range. They lack "evil" features but can be inexpensively brought up to date.

IMO they are some of the best made and most accurate AK's going.
