mcramblet, To 10mmTalk! Thanks for posting the report and pictures of this AWI/Feather Industries 10mmRAV carbine. It looks to be nice compact unit. My I ask about the cost as delivered? $$$? With the masses purchasing so many guns and ammo I suppose you were lucky to get that soon! I will be waiting to hear the range report news and what you thought about it performance. I bet you would want one of these SCHERER 10MM cal GLOCK 29 RND MAGAZINE, this one sold for $74 on Gun broker. Congradulations! Enjoy the forum and post often!

Wow! Looks interesting. And in 10mm too! Hope the quality is good and they get it right before production. I found their site and am going to post the link. http://www.guns-rifles-firearms.com/index.htmNever heard of these guys before, so can't vouch, but like Shadow said above, you can be sure we will anxiously be awaiting a report. And welcome to 10mmTalk! :

Curious to hear how it runs.
Also, has salivating at the thought of a two barrel system. One 10mm barrel, one 9X25 barrel. Go along with my Witness Match that also has two barrels.

The cost as you see in the pictures was pretty close to $850. The version I bought was technically a 10mmRAV-HA which has the rigid stock, heavy barrel and the tri-rail system. The price included the case, one 10 rnd Glock mag and shipping.
I do have my eye out for some hi-capacity Glock mags!

By the way, they have been making 10mm carbines for several years now, so it's not a new product. I almost bought a Mech-Tech conversion unit when I received some requested literature via mail. I'm hoping that carbine engineered from the ground up to shoot 100mm performs better than conversion unit. Time will tell and I'll pass it along to the forum.

That does look very interesting. I too, await the results of your testing. Note: MSAR is supposed to have a 10mm carbine (that takes Glock mags) coming out this August.

Definitely want to hear the range report. Anyone also notice that it's basically a modern version/copy of a Sten?

It will be interesting to see how this unit will stack-up against the MSAR offering. The RAV would be a helluva an "ass-ripper" with an extended Glock magazine, and stoked with 180 DT's. Isn't MSAR the same company that made "MicroTech Knives"? But then again, I may be wrong. This weapon would be a perfect mate for a Glock pistol in the field. I wonder how much more the velocity would peak in this carbine's barrel (+100fps above a standard 5" bbl.)? To our reloader friends: What powder would you recommend to use simultaneously in both pistol and carbine? Would I be wrong in thinking a medium-rate powder?

Blue Dot and AA#9 would perform well, even 800X if the chamber is not too loose! Clean burns to keep fouling down!
I would have to have the 9x25Dillon barrel for it for sure. One little zipper!

At www.KRISS-TDI.com They sell a 17 round mag extensions for Glock model 21. ( $26.95 ) I see no reason why that extension wouldn't work on a Glock model 20 magazine. KRISS got together with Magpul to provide this accessory for their carbines. Does anyone here have any experience with the KRISS or these mag extensions ? If they can get 13 + 17 rounds of 45acp then 34 to 35 rounds of 10mm seems possible.

10mmRAV Range Report Number 1:I had a chance to go out to the shooting range with the 10mmRAV carbine. You'll notice that I named this report #1, because there will need to be more. My first round of testing did not get very far. I started out by following the recommended barrel break-in procedure that came from Feather; 20 rounds of copper jacketed ammo, the first ten rounds cleaning between each shot, the second ten rounds cleaning after every two shots. The firearm functioned fine while doing this. I then began to start sighting the gun in using 6 rounds in the 10 round Glock clip. During the 3rd or 4th clip, I experienced what I thought was a jam, I removed the jammed round and went to load the next round in the clip, which also jammed. Upon closer look, I saw the problem; part of a case was still in the chamber. When the last fired round was being ejected, part of the case was stuck and the rim and bottom half of the case was torn off (and ejected). Not good. By the way, I was using CCI and Winchester ammo. At the time of the malfunction, I was using Winchester Silvertips. I contacted Feather, conveyed what happened and asked them to let me know what they wanted me to do. They asked me to send the rifle, barrel and magazine to them via UPS and they "will check and return in 7 days, Thank you and we will take care of this issue." I've got everything boxed up and ready to send out. It's unfortunate that I had this issue, but any manufacturer will have a problem product from time to time, so I will withhold any judgment. I'll continue to keep posting information as it comes.

mcramblet, Sorry for the stuck case but that can happen to any gun ant any time with almost any ammunition! Sometimes semi-Autos will try to cycle while the pressure is still to high and the cartridge case is still firmly pressed to the chamber walls. Chamber may be a little rough inside, too dry or a combination of these! It sounds like the manufacture will help out, you probably could remove the case yourself with a patch wrapped cleaning brush, little solvent. Good luck, till then waiting for Range report #2!

The first few rounds will feed, but then the spring and/or follower is catching on something inside the mag tube. Someone over on Glock Talk mentioned using a G21 follower so I'll try that next.

Hey ! Thanks for the info. I hope you get it sorted out. I plan on converting a few if it becomes practical. And ordering one of those Feather carbines.
