Two questions...

1. Will any ring still allow for the use of the iron sight groove in the mount?

2. With the mount being 3/4" do I still need high rings to clear a 3-9x40 over the rear BUIS and front rail?

The see through channel is the groove through the center of the rails. When rings are mounted it is unusable if memory serves.

You should be able to get away with low rings if you are using the #5

Well that would defeat the purpose of the rail since I was looking for something that would allow me to still use my BUIS. sad.gif

Raising a 3-9x40 high enough to use the BUIS will result in height over boreline issues.

You might as well be mounting it on top of a carry handle.......height would be the same.

You would be much better off just mounting the 3-9x40 in QD rings and removing it quickly if it goes TU.

Well that was kind of my other thought. Rings mounted to a QD base for that exact scenario. With the rings mounted to a base I imagine I wouldn't have to worry about scope level each time it went back on.

Who knows. May be the way to go after all. laugh.gif

So just get some #22H QD rings :)

They'll return to zero much better than the #5 will and be considerably lighter.
