Getting a wild hair and thought, if I'm going to build/buy an AR-10, why not make it a cartridge worth doing.

The 6.5x47 Lapua is supposed to be close to a ballistic twin to the 6.5mm-06 and the 6.5mm-284.

With the high BC bullets it is supposed to rival the 300 Win Mag for energy and less bullet drop at 1000 meters.

Does anyone make these... Or.. Do I have to do it all on my own?

What about a 6.5 Creedmore

DPMS makes LR-308s chambered for it.

Not quite the ballistic twin of the 6.5-06, and definately not the 6.5-284 twin. I think it is slightly slower than the .260.

I've decided to wait a bit.
Since Olympic is releasing and standardizing the 30 OSM (30 cal WSSM) AR-15 rifles this fall, there are other calibers sure to follow.

I'm going to wait for the 7mm or 6.5mm version. We've waited 4 years on the 30 cal version... what's another couple years?

I can get one built now, but the chamber dimensions have not been standardized yet. If I wait I can get a chamber to match the standardized cartridge for commercial ammo and won't have to stick to home made wildcat ammo reloading.

For what its worth. 7mm verisons should push 140's at 3000-3100ft/sec
The 6.5mm version should be able to do the same or just under that of course with the better BC.

The 30 cal version is already pushing 180's at just under that velocity... just shy of the 300 win mag

There's a WSSM mag on Oly's site that looks like a 20rd .223/5.56 mag and it holds seven rounds of WSSM.

I read an article that pitted .260 Remington vs. 6.5x47 Lapua vs. 6.5 Creedmoor

The end result the review said that between the 3 his choice(if building a new rifle) would be based on price of components, thats how close they are.

But then I got my Addax Gas piston AR. Sure I still have to keep a few small replacement parts, but I'll let you kick me in the balls for every malfunction I have with my Addax GPU, thats how reliable it is!

So far we are at, hold on, let me check..... ZERO!
