Here is a how-to on field stripping your AK47. I am using a Yugo M70 for this. It varies a lil from a standard AK but mainly only in looks.

First make sure the magazine is removed and it is unloaded.

Push in on the square button on the back side of the dust cover. This allows you to remove your dust cover.

Push forward on the same button to release the recoil spring from the receiver.

Remove the recoil spring.

Remove the bolt carrier assembly from the rifle. Pull it back to the rear most part of the receiver. There is a notch in the rail for it to pass through.

At this point your rifle will look like this.

Now its time to move onto the front part of the rifle.

Remove the cleaning rod from the front of the rifle.

This step pertains to the Yugo M70s. You need to flip up the grenade launcher sight/shut off.

Locate the gas tube release lever, it is on the same side of the rifle as the ejection port.

Flip it upward to unlock the gas tube.

Closed

Open

Now remove the gas tube.

To remove the lower handguard, locate the release for it. It is found here.

Pry it up with a knife or flathead screwdriver.

Flip it all the way toward the muzzle to release the lower handguard.

Push the handguard forward and then it will come free from the rifle.

You rifle is now stripped down to its basic components.

I will soon go through how to disassemble your bolt carrier and FCG.

I didnt have the time to do that at the time I did this.

But then I got my Addax Gas piston AR. Sure I still have to keep a few small replacement parts, but I'll let you kick me in the balls for every malfunction I have with my Addax GPU, thats how reliable it is!

So far we are at, hold on, let me check..... ZERO!
