Hornaday makes good ammo, but the best 9mm carry round is 147gr Winchester Ranger... IMHO.

I carry what I'm issued, but if I wasn't, I would look at the T-series, and Golden Saber. I would be happy with either. I would probably be going with a 124+P, but I like the hotter/faster loads.

No, it is the preferred G19 load by BC and myself.

That's a pretty good thread in the Ammo forum about the heavyweight 9mm.

You're welcome! You'll like them. Rangers are low flash and the 147 grain load is mild in recoil as well.

They should in the CZ. Test a few to be sure. wink.gif

I've always like hydro shocks. Never have shoot the ranger, but have shoot black talons before, back when they were affordable. Any time I've ever had a problem with hollow point ammo in a gun, win slivertips have always feed.

Hydrashoks are obsolete technology. Sure, they still work, but there are newer, improved loads (Gold Dot, Ranger, Golden Sabre, HST).

All of the Silvertips I've ever fired were high flash, and they're even older technology than Hydrashocks. I generally don't suggest them as a defensive load for this reason alone. Flash = Bad Thing.

Hydrashoks are very old technology. They don't do very well (or at least didn't in the last study I read) against intermediate barriers. One shooting had an officer shooting through a back window on a GM sedan. 8 rounds were fired, IIRC, and the bad guy in the driver's seat was only peppered with fragments, as the bullets disassembled themselves in the glass.

Bonded projectiles are the way to go. Speer Gold Dot, some Golden Sabre (some is bonded, some isn't, make sure you get the stuff marked as bonded), and IIRC, Rangers are bonded, as in there's a physical or chemical bond between the lead and the jacket material. These won't, or are less likely to separate.
