What muzle device would you reccomend for a 16" 9mm RRA barrel?

One day, I might consider going through the circles to get a suppressor, so YHM's Wraith 9mm Q.D. Flash Hider sounds appealing. However, I may never get a suppressor, and if I do ever gt around to it, Imight not want a YHM suppressor,

so I don't want to place my desicion purley on that.

So, next how about the Smith Vortex? Is it worth the extra expense for a 9mm?

Would any one say the factory A1 is more than adequate enough for a 9mm? And that all others are a waste?

I only ask these questions, since muzzle flash on a 9mm seems like it would be less any way. So it makes me doubt the effectivness of some of the upgrade FS.

What say you?

Using factory pistol ammo in the dark there is no flash fom a 16" barrel even without a flash supressor.
The shorter the barrel and you may encounter some flash.

Now using handloads built for a carbine using slower powders and you can get some flash.
For example slower 9mm powders like Blue Dot, shooting a 125 grain bullet jump from 1000ft/sec in a pistol to over 1300ft/sec in the carbine. You can get a little flash from these in the carbine.

BTW handloads with the little 90 grain bullets you can scream them out at almost 1700ft/sec

For comparison that is a higher energy than any 45ACP by 150% and a 44 Special by 90-100%
You have to shoot at least a 44 Magnum to equal the energy..

This is cool when you consider you can have a 32 round or more magazine on board.

Sorry for the thread hi-jack

Don't be sorry. You answered his primary question and added some really good info as well.

+1

There's a light glow from the barrel, but definitely not a flash... I've shot my post-ban 9mm Colt 16" AR in the dark many times... Its still in post-ban configuration, although one day I would like to thread it for use with a suppressor... but then again, I have a 9mm AR pistol that's already suppressed... smile.gif

So when are we going shooting again? laugh.gif

I'll buy the ammo.

Two guys I work with just put a Krink like FS on thier 9mm pistols. It resembles the Noveske KX3.

Sure looks cool, and is quite from the shooters perspective, although I don't know what the flash is like. They are supposed to report back to me on that.
