I've been looking forward to spare PPS50 drums ever since BDM announced they were releasing them.

QUOTE (Ilikelegs @ October 21st 2009 7:55 PM) None of the blackdog 30 rounders ever ran worth a damn on my AR. The new 26 rounds full body work well for me. The ones with out the bolt stop feature are the best. It seems like the extended follower creates binding in the magazine body. Not to mention the bolt slams on follower at the last shot. I have seen a few newer ones of these crack feed lips and followers. I much prefer the ones with out the bolt stop feature, they run flawlessly in my dedicated AR 22. The best, are the new full body 26, with out the bolt stop follower. Unfortunatley they aren't making them any more. Keep your eyes peeled at gunshows, there are still many out there.

QUOTE (Rampy @ October 21st 2009 8:08 PM) Can you take a dremmel and grind off teh bolt stop??? It just easier buying the ones with out teh bolt stop!!! I've thought about it, but since the body is riveted together, I wouldn't want to risk mucking up the feed lips, or leaving the follower in a crummy condition, since I wouldn't be able to reach the follower easily. I suppose a guy could remove the rivets, and work on the follower that way. But there are tons of those older 26 round full body mags out there. Why risk screwing up one, unreviting, rereviting, etc. when they are plentiful at gunshows.... for now any way.

QUOTE (Ilikelegs @ October 21st 2009 7:55 PM) None of the blackdog 30 rounders ever ran worth a damn on my AR. Mine didn't either... until I modified 4 of them and they run 99% of the time now. Failures are usually due to ammo now. I tried to tell this to BDM and others on another forum, and they never listen. I haven't cleaned my gun in almost 11 months now, and I try to shoot a bulk pack every other week or so... videos: http://www.ar15armory.com/forums/Range-vid...y-V-t60768.html

It's about friggen time it got here! Very cool magazine guys. It does NOT have the bolt open feature, (which isn't a big deal to me) it rattles a lot when empty, (it doesn't rattle much when there is tension on the drum spring) it is rather big and heavy considering it holds 50 runds of the miniscule .22lr, Other than that, it ran great today through my M1S dedicated .22lr. upper. The sun was already setting when I got home from work, and I only had time to run 150 rounds through it, but it ran with out any problems what so ever. It is easy to load, which is more than I can say about most drum magazines. There is a thumb groove on the back of the magazine that allows you to spin it with little difficulty, making loading very easy. Only time will tell how much I like it, so far, I have no reasonable complaints. I put a lot of rounds through my .22lr, so I will report any problems that I may have. (yes, I know my selector is on fire, please forgive my lack of saftey, )

It was $82 if memory serves. I got this one from a friend, but I am sure they will be popping up all over the place very soon.
These things are really neat, I have personally seen them function flawlessly in a SBR, AR 22lr pistol, ARs with a cenier kit, and even in a dedicated .22lr upper on a M16 lower.
I am hesitant to say it, but in a way, so far, they seem to be just as reliable, if not more reliable than standard full body BDM mags.
Now, there are some parts in it I am a little skeptical about, like how the dummy rounds on the follower are connected with a peice of platic cable. It looks fairly thin to me.
But since I do not have a lot of hands on experience with drum magazines, it is difficult for me to compare it to anything other than standard detachable box mags.
Only time will tell.
