It does look a lot better now than it ever has.

Better?

Maybe, but it still has a LOOOOOOOONG way to go before I'd call it "good looking".

Sorry, I got my KTM and Rotax mixed up. Love the Rotax. I have a Renegade "X" and that V-2 (800cc) makes some very good power.

I'd much sooner buy a KTM. I have wet dreams over this one........drop dead sexy! (and more money than I'll ever be able to afford)

Harley's marketing is targeted for old farts and the styling is trapped in the 50's along with the engineering. It's just a big shiny chrome pecker rolling down the street to the next tavern.

Its quite a large market segment. A lot of us riders that are older use to ride nothing but in lines with 1/4 mile times in the 10 second or less range that God knows what the top end of the bikes were since we never got there then as our reflexes started slowing and we got into riding more than a few miles without going "Oh my back" started buying VTwins.

That's why the Japanese companies make so many too now.

Take a trip on the interstate someday and count how many crotch rockets you see compared to those antiquated twins. There's a reason and it isn't speed related.

If she were smart enough to be mine, she'd have her head in a helmet and her hair tied w/several hair-ties.....100mph wind knots are a b*tch.

The majority of cruiser purchases are made by casual riders. There are some hard core cruiser guys that pound out 10K+ miles per year, but most buy them as a status symbol and like being seen on one more that actually riding one. They are more comfortable, but if comfort was my sole criteria I would get a used Goldwing. Me I like going fast, for long distances. I did 400 miles on Sunday and got home by 5:30pm. Most I did in one day was 700. That was rough.

Still have a 1980 KZ 1000 LDT sitting in the garage next to an "08 Electra Glide and a Honda dirt bike. Neither street bike has given me a lick of trouble. The Harley is the one I'll be takin out for two weeks starting next Fri. I do try to buy American when I can.

The buells get smoked by 600s as they are raced in the 600cc class because of the v twin thing Im sure the old RC51 will smoke it too
The majority of Hondas especially the gold wing are built here in the U.S.but honda has now out sourced that for cheaper labor that will mean more recalls.
I just dont understand why they call the V-Rod and the buells especially the new austrian buell Harley both are metric (engines)the only thing Buell is the frame??
We have a Fury at work it is sweet but Honda should have put a larger power plant in it,I am a HONDA guy but the bad a$$ is the Yamaha Raider they however should have made it liquid cooled.
The raider will absolutely smoke a kawi 2000 that is 2000 ccs vs 1900 ccs weight over horsepower ratio the raider wins the 2000 is a heavy pig.
my 919 will probably smoke that buell too and it has a majorly de tuned cbr900rr power plant.
Uhh ohh I might be ranting sorry im a motorcycle service tech I used to like Harleys and wanted one untill I worked on them they are archaic technology exept for their electrics and fuel injection i consider harleys to be
neanderthal and rice to be modern man as far as technology is concernend i was going to become a harley tech instead of Honda and yamaha, kawajunkie but they are all pretty much the same easy to work on V twin engines all pretty much the same where as the rice bikes and atvs are for the most part very different i.e. V twin V four, inline four, singles, twins, triples oh yes triumph did not come up with the inline 3 or triple yamaha did that in the 80s for four stroke and suzuki and kawi did it in the late 70s two strokes.
uhh crap still ranting sorry . we have actually sold a couple of furys and quite a few raiders.
My next bike I would like to have the CB1000R but im sure itll never hit the states naked bikes dont sell well here ,so I will most likely find a wrecked CBR1000RR and make a street fighter out of it

I used to Bash Harleys and still wont get 1 But they have come a million miles as far as quility. Leave the motor alone and leave the exhaust alone and they will go along time! When on a V-Rod watch out for they exhaust tf.gif It Will burn your LEG unsure.gif sad.gif Plenty of power just BAD exhaust placement!!
The Goldwing was the most American made bike for SOO many years it is Amazing really.gif
Harley gave there engine design to the japs in WW1! In 84 honda was daul plugging there v twins down to 500cc! Talk about Better perfomance with reliability smiley_smartass.gif !
Love my Hondas But then I road BMW K bikes really.gif really.gif Damn I Love my k75 and cant wait to get on the NEW k1200

BUT it still aint a Harley and from what I've seen (and heard when I test drove one) it sounds lousy (like a wilder beast farting thru a kazoo). No matter what, it's still a cheap imitation but if it flicks your BIC, then who am I to say anything... How many ond vintage Honda's, Yamaha's, Suzuki's and Kawasaki's do you see on the road? Pretty much zero. If you want a real cruzier, make it a Harley and what's really nice? IT'S AMERICAN MADE!
My ride: 2005 custom FLSTCI (Heritage)...... really.gif

I ride an '82 Yamaha Virago 750 and know lot's who have them. Also see a lot of old honda's around everywhere. If I made a couple grand a week, sure I'd have the Street Glide I've been eyeing for 3 years now, but that's harley's problem, they want too much for a bike that they built for less than 1/3 of the asking price. I know they're good, well now, but I just can't pay $18k for a bike when I could get a new car for that much. My limit for a new bike is $10k and that's a kawasaki 1600 bigsmile.gif
