Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right, Because their words had forked no lightning they Do not go gentle into that good night.
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Imagine the feeling those on the other side had when they saw it come down.

Well, most of Europe has gone to one currency and they all bow to one god now, Obama, so what is there to fight about? Actually, having had some German friends in the past and from behind the iron curtain even, they seem to think that both WWs were not their fault. At least that was the impression I got from them.

I remember watching it being torn down. QUOTE (MontanaLon @ November 4th 2009 9:36 PM) Actually, having had some German friends in the past and from behind the iron curtain even, they seem to think that both WWs were not their fault. At least that was the impression I got from them. I don't think WWI was their fault. It was the Austro-Hungarian Empire and Serbia's fault. It should have been a war between the two and everyone else should have stayed out. Russian came in to protect the Serbs and the Germans came in to protect Austria-Hungary. Then everybody in Europe decided to jump in. TS

Of course our man-child president won't miss yet another opportunity to disgrace the country. This just pisses me off! QUOTE Obama Will Not Travel to Germany for 20th Anniversary of Fall of Berlin Wall
President Obama will not travel to Germany to mark the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall on November 9. White House Spokesman Robert Gibbs said today that President Obama’s schedule will not allow for a visit to Germany. “Obviously, we have a lot to work on here and we have commitments for an upcoming Asia trip,” Gibbs said. The anniversary festivities are scheduled for November 9, and the president leaves for his ten-day tour of Asia on November 11. Gibbs added that the White House will soon announce a U.S. delegation to attend the ceremonies in Germany instead. In 2008, then-Democratic Presidential Candidate Obama delivered a major campaign speech in Berlin, drawing the largest crowds—about 100,000 people—of his campaign. Obama received criticism from conservatives and then-Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain for using the speech as a political tool to capitalize on his star-status. Today, the president is again facing criticism that the city that was an important stop in his campaigning is not a priority during this significant anniversary. A headline in Germany’s Spiegel said “Barack is Too Busy.” German Chancellor Angela Merkel is in Washington today, where she participated in an Oval Office photo-opportunity with Obama. Merkel also delivered a speech before Congress, in which she drew a parallel between the fall of the Berlin Wall and the need to come to a global agreement on climate change. He actually turned down an invitation from the German Chancelor. http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/20...erlin-wall.html

Ironic that now we want to be communist and how we should forget all those thousands of people trying to get across that wall away from communism back then. I guess people today just figure those folks didn't like walls. Of course, Obama isn't going to the ceremony. That's an article that could have gone unwritten. Tj

NOBODY would have believed it. I mean not a human soul, nor the most accurate Fortune Teller alive and fibbing about it would have mentioned it.
When I was stationed as a Paratrooper in 79-80 in Italy I bought a road map of Germany. If you look closely at the smaller roads in Eastern Germany near the border you could see many roads leading nowhere; they had to stop because they led to West Germany and something the Latter Generations take for granted: Freedom.
Nobody would have believed it.
