1st trip to the range S&W 1006

Picked up a like new 1006 a few weeks back. Finally was able to get to the range today. Function was flawless, plenty accurate and just eats up recoil as you all know. It is big, that's for sure. Very happy with this find and the price was right. The only negative is the protective wings for the rear sight. My eye is drawn to them while aiming.

Yup those 1006's sure are a 10mm tamer.

After you get the sights lined up and on target, focus your eye on the front sight as intently as you can. It should be crystal clear. The target will look a bit fuzzy. That is normal.
The rear sights will get less defined and a bit fuzzy (as they should) when you focus on the front sight.

Congratulations on the 1006. I also picked up an adjustable sight 1006 not long ago. I fell in love and now my poor Glock 20 is feeling neglected. I added the Hogue grip to mine and it feels even better in my hand. The stock plastic grip had good checkering but felt a little squirmy for my taste.

Congrats my 1006 is by far my favorite handgun but I do have plans on getting a Delta Elite as well wink.gif

You're making me homesick for MY old 1006. sad.gif From '91 to '03, it was my primary carry piece, but buying my first house necessitated selling it, and a few more firearms as well. no, no.gif

My suggestion on the rear sight would be, go with a Novak low-profile tritium set - that's what mine had. For standard pistol ranges (engagements), they'll serve you much better. thumb.gif
