Taurus PT1911:

After looking at this pic, I'm missing the wood grips. Maybe I'll slap them back on for old time's sake:

My RIA GI with factory stainless barrel. No fancy ,tight, race gun, but it works like a champ, eats anything and has great accuracy.

Made any mods besides the grips? I like the punisher motif.

Nothing yet although I hear they benefit from a better barrel bushing. Accurate enough for now and it's my daily carry piece. Shoots sub minute of bad guy! Thanks, the grips were a present from an ex girlfriend, but don't let that make you think she was nice. Ha ha.

EGW sells match bushings for 20 bucks. I put one in a PT1911 and it made a big improvement. Enjoy!

Might have to check that out. How much fitting was involved?

The fit around the barrel was perfect. Getting it into the slide was a bit tough. I oiled it up and tapped it in with a plastic hammer. I then worked it back and forth with a bushing wrench. Then I used the barrel as a slide hammer to ease it back out. After a couple times in and out it was still snug, but not bad to install.

A Glock over a 1911?? thumbdown.gif

Once upon a time I had a Glock 23 and lived happily in the land of the ignorant. And then one day a fellow I know offered to let me shoot his Kimber. The next day I bought my first, and three days later sold my Glock to my dad, who has arthritis and likes the big grip. I now have two - an aluminum frame 4" for carrying, and a 5" steel one for range work. I will have to bring my camera home from work for some pics tomorrow.

Here are a few of mine. The first pistol is a Rock Island Armory, that has been completely customized by Rob Shepard in Ga. The only parts that are still RIA are the frame and slide. Everything else is either Ed Brown, or Wilson Combat. This one is a safe queen. The others I carry everyday one or the other.

The second one is a Springfield Champion with a little work done to it. The third is a new Taurus PT 1911, for an inexpensive pistols it's a real shooter.

Take care, flea
