15 people failed our DHS. firearms qualifications, we have never had anyone fail in the past 5 years including when we where transitioning to semi's. but then again we are carrying sigma's and the company put "new" night sights on them to meet the fed contract. hopefully FPS makes the company shat can the use of these firearms. and from what I have been getting from my FPS inspector the company I looking at going to the M&P 9's. Any of you guys out there have any exp. with the M&P, if so how do you and your fellow officers feel about them pros? cons? whatever.


on a good note I did manage to qualify even tho I was handed my new weapon at 8am on Sunday 214 out of 250. The highest score of the day was a 227 from our firearms instructors who had to shoot the course of fire. goes to show how crappy that gun really is!

Unless you guys shoot out to 50 yards, it is not the gun.

The gun may be a good portion of it. If the instructor didn't shoot a "possible", then it's a safe bet something is wrong other than technique. A good shooter should have been able to qualify, and while many aren't "good" shooters, most should have at least qualified. I'm sure that S&W did build a good Sigma, I just haven't seen one yet. I read a review of the "enhanced" version (IIRC it was Guns & Ammo), and the best the author could shoot from a rest was a 7" group at 10 yards. They called it "acceptable combat accuracy". That wouldn't be close to acceptable around here.

Oak can testify to this. I shot his Valor and Charles Daly and put all of the bullets in nice little groups. I can do similar things, but not quite as fine with my P90. When I use my Smegma, there is no telling where the round is going to hit the target. It's not me, it's the damn gun. It also jams like nuts. I keep it because no one will give me dirt for it and 40 cal is cheap to shoot.

Every customer I have sold a sigma to did not like it and wanted to return it. they really are not the best semi... imo. hell a hi point functions better.
