I haven't been very active here since I've been without a 10mm for awile. I've owned a S&W1076 (wish I had kept it), a Megastar (which was sold as a parts gun since I couldn't get it to function properly), and now my Witness Hunter 6" as of last month. The Hunter was an impulse buy since Gander Mtn. had it in stock. Haven't shot it yet so I really don't have much to say as of yet. I would have to agree with some of the people saying that responses are slow if they come at all. I had mentioned I was looking for advice on hunting loads for whitetail deer in a post the other day and I got no response. I found the info I was looking for by searching the archives however.

I know my posting has been down, but it's down every where. Supplies are flowing and i am spending all my time running presses and making ammo.
Elite is coming out with a new 10mm load next month. Nickled Starline brass and a bullet I have wanted to use for a long time, 175gr WSTHP. This was the first bullet designed for 10mm velocities and still one of my favorites. I have not settled on a load yet but it will be smoking.
Beyond that I will post more. Usually I hit and run.

Lurkers, good.
Incessant newbies(trolls in sheeps' clothing), bad.
I like it. The merger put the site on a more stable basis. I'm not wondering these days, "hmm, I'm wondering if that 10mmtalk forum is still on the net. Let's go see."
Now, everytime I check it, it's here.
Turns up first in google for 10mm chat or forum searches. That can't be a bad thing.

I am new to the 10mm Family I am glad I found this site as I did some research before I bought a 10mm and this site helped. I hope to pick up my SW1006 today its being shipped to FLA from NH. I want to see if I got a good one. The pics were a bit hard to tell the condition but I got the pistol for 530.00 so I grabbed it up. Thanks to everyone here especially to TAOS for their help in answering my questions.

QUOTE (Gmountain @ October 24th 2009 9:45 PM) and ammo isn't cheap. It isn't all that much more than .40 S&W when you reload like me. Although it cost me enough to get the brass in the first place. That's why I love ammobrasstrader.com. I've gotten a bunch of 10mm cases for other caliber cases I have picked up for free at the range.

Trust me, you'll love it. S & W designed it for the 10 from the ground up.
Very accurate, soft shooter. Hard to beat.
Let me know if I'm wrong.
As for condition, even if it's rough, you can easily clean it up with a scotchbrite pad.
Smith will go over the inners for little cost if your concerned.

QUOTE (HDfltri06 @ October 25th 2009 11:44 PM) I have been very dissapointed, I have posted several times and almost everyone I had very few responses. I not sure why that was. To add to this feeling I traded off my G20 to get a S&W .38 snub for the wife since she wants to get her CCW and she is not confortable with a semi auto. Well I had a couple simple questions about it. So I joined the S&W forum and posted my questions. Within 20 min. I had two responses within 12 hours I had nine, plus pic's and congrats on what I had. We need to make people feel confortable, quit the bickering, try and give honest answers and keep to their questions and not run a thread into the ground. I love my G29, carry it everytime I can. Some freinds I shoot with try to get me to switch to the allmighty .45 but, I love what this cartige can do. Please lets not kll this forum. I have gotten some good infromation, and some not so good. Ok I will now get off my soapbox, please keep this forum going I still need some questions answered. lol Don I think I have had very positive response when I post, I do however mainly lurk the forum. Just don't think I have much important to say but I'll make a point to post more. Too useful of a resource to lose.

QUOTE (Gmountain @ October 24th 2009 10:45 PM) On the contrary, I think a lot of guys are being exposed to 10mm by the merger. What hurts is that the guns are relatively expensive, there aren't that many of them, and ammo isn't cheap. Add all that up and mix in the current economy, and 10mm is a tough sell. Until you try it, that is.
Ammo is still expensive though. I dont really buy the expensive ammo part. You can get a box of Remington UMC FMJ for about the same price as a box of .45ACP FMJ (both more expensive than 9-mm for sure). With regard to the expensive guns, at least in the 1911s, the prices are about the same for Dan Wesson, Wilson Combat, Nighthawk, etc. As for popularity, what I cant figure out is that if the 10mm remains a specialty round, then why are manufacturers still making new 10s? And why are they trying to resurrect the Bren Ten? If we could get the magazine writers and Guns and Ammo TV people to cover the 10, at least once in a while, things would surely pick up a lot more.

There really are no cheap 10mm guns, like ther are in other calibers. I and find 9mm and .45 and .38 used, and even new for under $300. Not so 10mm. I think that keeps people away. That and not even knowing a 10mm exists.

I think any pistol under 500 is cheap by today's standard...38's I can't understand how they stay popular, my 2 cents they are a round that everything around them can do and better. They just have a surplus of pistols chambered in that round. IMHO it's a media thing. Every shooter that I know who is in the know loves the 10 whether they shoot it or not depends on several factors....cost is one, brand loyalty is one, configuration is one(ie: glock vs 1911) and availability is one...many other reasons I am sure.....I for one wish they had just made the .40 with the label 10MM short then Tens IMHO would or might be close to ruling the roost.

Well...I most likely would have never invested in a 10MM if I had not read about them on this site. Great weapon....just wish the ammo was a little more reasonable.

I guess I'll post up. I just started lurking, after picking up a Glock 20, 40 S&W bbl, AA 22 conversion kit and 4 mags.
I am a southpaw, got a bladetech holster and a few single mag pouches.
I have a few questions, but am trying to get a bit of reading done first. Don't want to waste anyone's time.
How about getting a link to the 10mm pic thread. I'll add to that.
Oh, I am gonna start reloading for it, as soon as I get the dies.
Thanks for a good forum. I hope I can contribute.

Haven't got a chance to actually shoot it yet, picked it up yesterday. Had to work this weekend. I plan on shooting it Tuesday. I plan on getting new sights, and having a local Glocksmith do a grip reduction. Then there's working up a load. I got my work cut out for me.

I had always put the 10mm on the back burner, something that would be cool to have, but not an immediate priority. Shot one again a few weeks ago, and it brought back all the good times I had with a DE back in the day. I might have to pick up a G29 one of these days, get qualified on it for an off-duty piece.

Well, I shot the G20 today for the first time. I have no chronograph, so this is just my impressions. The .40 bbl was first, shot all the .40 ammo that came with the gun. I wasn't that impressed. It's nice having the ability to shoot the 40, but I will keep that as a backup thing. Then I dropped the 10mm bbl back in and went to work. American Eagle 180 gn was unimpressive. The gun also came with a box of 200gn blazer ammo, the stuff with aluminum cases. I'd never liked the blazer ammo, but it had a bit more punch than the AE stuff. I bought the 10mm for a general purpose woods gun, I want it to have a bit of a bite. I'm thinking that whatever load I work up needs to use 200gn bullets. Whadda y'all think?
