I am starting to think the merger with AR15Armory didn't do us any favors. I'm not blaming them, and I love being a part of a larger forum. I wouldn't have joined an AR forum in addition to 10mmtalk. Or a combloc, or 5.7, or any of the other great sub-forums on this site. But the number of posts under the 10mmtalk name have plumeted. Maybe what, 3 or 4 new topics a day under all headings? I first attributed it to summer. Anymore, I think we just got lost in the restructuring. It seems like the number of "new here" post for the 10mm side is way below what it used to be as well. That is a seat of the pants assesment, but one or two new guys a month is pretty weak. We used to get a lot more than that. I understand that content is what brings members, and I myself do not contribute many new posts. I guess I will have to work on that for the good of the board. Anyone have ideas on getting more people here?

I think it has slowed down some. It could be more people are getting their 10mm chat fix elsewhere.
I agree..Content is king. Guess I need to work on my topic of the day.

On the contrary, I think a lot of guys are being exposed to 10mm by the merger. What hurts is that the guns are relatively expensive, there aren't that many of them, and ammo isn't cheap. Add all that up and mix in the current economy, and 10mm is a tough sell. Until you try it, that is.
Ammo is still expensive though.

I hate to hear not everyone is enjoying the merger, however when I merged over the sites the 10mm forum was crawling compared to what it was doing when I bought it in 2005.
Now if I had not bought the site 10mmtalk.com was dead anyway in 2005, so I have kept it alive for the additional 4 years that what it would have lasted.
Merging over here with the Armory has given folks more options than they ever had before, we cover all weapons here plus the big benefit we do not have the BS on the site like most others do. All the content is still in tact other than the Political forum, which one is enough let alone two.

I like the idea of the planet killing 10mm, but the platforms for launching it are too limited.

I will admit this is the first time being back to 10mm forums since the merger......just missed the 10 talk to much even though I lurk more than talk. So my lurking will continue with the jealousy of so many nice weapons intact

AKMAN I posted the same sentiment a few months back, and the forum seemed to pick-up a little. Anyway, most of my posts illecit "non-responses", or are just plain irrelevant to everyone it seems. So I basically, only reply to others now ("Is anybody there? All I hear are crickets chirping! A lonely prairie wind is blowing. I just heard a hoot-owl." ). I think timely introduction of the "Bren Ten" would be a big-shot-in-the-arm for everyone. A 10mm picture thread of owners in action would be fascinating too! Another factor, as has been stated is the overall economy. The holidays are fast-approaching, and this is paramount in the minds of many also. If there's non-compliance on the forum by the members, what more can you do? But, take the hint nobody's interested period.

Part of the problem here is we all tend to agree. Maybe we need some "10mm DW vs. 9mm Hi-Point" threads to keep us posting.

I have been very dissapointed, I have posted several times and almost everyone I had very few responses. I not sure why that was. To add to this feeling I traded off my G20 to get a S&W .38 snub for the wife since she wants to get her CCW and she is not confortable with a semi auto. Well I had a couple simple questions about it. So I joined the S&W forum and posted my questions. Within 20 min. I had two responses within 12 hours I had nine, plus pic's and congrats on what I had. We need to make people feel confortable, quit the bickering, try and give honest answers and keep to their questions and not run a thread into the ground. I love my G29, carry it everytime I can. Some freinds I shoot with try to get me to switch to the allmighty .45 but, I love what this cartige can do. Please lets not kll this forum. I have gotten some good infromation, and some not so good. Ok I will now get off my soapbox, please keep this forum going I still need some questions answered. lol Don

For the good or the bad this is where she lives. This is home and we are the 10mm forum. And yes, we lost a few members along the way. The 10 has always had fewer dedicated followers amongst gun owners. But a google search of "10 mm forums" gets you right here. I saw much to my suprise, 10 mm ammo made by one of our local ammo companies here in NM. Never saw that before in his line. The guys said he felt this cartridge will start to come around and why it was a great round. That gives me hope for the cartridge. The forum is what we make it. So post those nice pics of those handguns in action or your test results on game or load data. Maybe we can help Neil will design us a special 10mm smiley.

OK OK OK...
I'll post. I lurk here all the time.
I seldom log in.
I love the info provided.
The "Merger" threw me for only a moment. I think now it was a good thing.
I also think there are a lot of "Lurkers" like me.
Guns? I have 1006, 1066 and a G29.
I reload.
I preach the 10mm benefits to anyone that will listen.
I just don't have a lot that I feel is interesting enough to take ups space with a post.
I'll try harder, I promise.

Sorry. Non-contributing lurker here. I read the forum daily but I only post if I feel I have something to offer in my area of specialization. I'll try harder, too.

I think part of the problem, and I know its going to sound bad, but the 10mm can't have the google hits that say "Glock 19" or "Taurus Judge" do. I don't think too many novice shooters are that familiar with it. Since most, (most, ok!) 10mm afficianados are pretty rooted in the shooting sports or at least have started burying their feet there is not a whole lot we don't know.
That was the part that was going to sound bad. Since were past that let me explain. If we were to set up two poles, I bet the average 10mm shooter is older (hence wiser), and been a firearms enthusiast longer than the some of our members elsewhere on the board. When we have a question about overall length we look it up in the shelf full of reloading manuals. We don't need to ask the best .400 bullet for those tiny texas whitetail. We have our pet powders, pet loads, pet guns and we have for the last 18 years. I'm not trying to sound elitist. But things havn't changed that much for the 10 in a lot of years.
We tend to be individualists. We throw something out when we know the answer, and are content just to browse the rest of the time. There is room for politics, jokes, and bars and grills (though I confess I don't understand what those are about), but the guys who shoot tens are probably just reading, not posting. And when someone comes in with a question about the 10mm, there is usually an accurate reply in a resonable amount of time. No need for 20 opinions. Just one right answer and some brief follow up. Thats one of the reasons I love this board so much; Ask a question get an answer.
Please, let me reiterate. I'm making blanket statments, that are nothing but my opinion.
I have been an member since the "take over". I am not trying to put down the ar15armory in any way. It kinda sounded like I was blaming them for the demise. I'm not and I understand you saved us from a fate that has befallen so many firearm websites. I was encouraged when I saw a post in the sidearm forum about the 10mm. In fact I am going to post another response there, so the individual knows about "our" side of the board.
Way to pony up guys. I guess the moral is, that as long as the AR15Armory will have us, no matter how few of us there are, we will be lurking.....

I've been lurking here quite a bit. I'm not a 10 shooter yet. Its been sitting on the back burner with a few other projects. My plan is to eventually build a 10 on the 1911 frame. I'm still more of a big bore revolver kinda of guy; but the 10 has been kinda one of those better packaged world killers. I think what is killing you guys is what has been killing the rest of us. The shatty economy. As for Patrice and the sexist just thumb your nose at them. If you are shooting a 10 and doing it accurately then follow HS and Carman at Copes. Give 'em the crap right back. Like my 15 year old tells them when she's marking targets. "Bet you wish you could shoot like a girl too."

Well, I was on the fence about joining this site, until a friend mentioned that there is a 10mm forum here. So this section at least attracted 1 new member.

I haven't been very active here since I've been without a 10mm for awile. I've owned a S&W1076 (wish I had kept it), a Megastar (which was sold as a parts gun since I couldn't get it to function properly), and now my Witness Hunter 6" as of last month. The Hunter was an impulse buy since Gander Mtn. had it in stock. Haven't shot it yet so I really don't have much to say as of yet. I would have to agree with some of the people saying that responses are slow if they come at all. I had mentioned I was looking for advice on hunting loads for whitetail deer in a post the other day and I got no response. I found the info I was looking for by searching the archives however.
