Hello, first post here. I have gained alot of knowledge over the last few months from this forum and a big thanks to everyone.
My 10mm story is this. I recently bought a two totes full of reloading equip. and supplies, the major cal. was 10mm. I owned a few pistols but nothing in 10mm. So with 1300brass, 1000+bullets and 3000's LPP and dies off I went looking for a 10mm pistol. I will post the rest of story later this afternoon.

OK back from picking up the daughter at school.

I'll give a little more detail on the totes of relaoding supplies. I had a coworker ask if I did any reloading, I told him just shotgun shells. He told me his brother-in-law had died a couple of years ago and he and his wife needed to sell some of his brother-in-laws stuff to help pay themself back for the funeral expense. So this is what I bought for $300.00, RCBSrockchucker press, power trimer, power tumbler, power case prep, 11 sets of dies, thousands of bullets of all cal, all the 10mm stuff, 223 cases and primers, powder charger, lots of magnum primers, calipers, mics., just a home run of stuff.

So back to the gun find, I started looking for a 10mm, pawn shops, gun stores, asking around. Finally, I go to church with a older man who has quite the collection, I told him I was looking for a 10 did he have one or know of one, his answer was yes I think I have a smith in 10mm I'll call you. So the next week I called him, he had forgot but said come over and we'll look, so after what seemed to be an hour of looking and digging and talking about the old days (which was alot of fun) out came a Smith 1006, new in the box never been fired and 300 rounds of ammo. After a little nogotationing it was mine.

I shot it this weekend and I'm now a "10mm junkie"!!!!!

As the late Jerry Reed used to say: "When you hot, your hot! When you not, your not!" Finding a score, like that, is a 10mm owners dream. By the way, welcome aboard!

How come that stuff never happens to me? I don't think I've ever gotten a "bro deal" on anything. A friend of mine gave me some of his buisness' t-shirts, thats about it.

The custom in situations like this is to share with the forum... thumbsup.gif

Seriously, congrats on the haul. You'll get a lot of enjoyment out of 10mm ownership.

Is this a 10mm thing? Because I live in North TX and my G20 sends brass into Mexico.

Jon

Maybe it's a border issue Jon.
I hunt deer and javelina along our border here in southern NM.
There are places I could also fire my 10 and the brass would literally fly into Mexico. smile.gif

Yes. With all that power comes a faster slide velocity. Since the ejector is frequently identical to the 45ACP ejector (shared frame) that means the brass ejects with lot's more authority.

Heavier recoil springs help, but don't fully tame the problem in my Witness's. I could grind down the ejector, as many have, but it doesn't really bother me that much.

I usually try to shoot at the last lane on the right end. That way my empties hit the wall, dumping most of their energy.
