I am in the process of upgrading a couple of 1076's. I have ordered S&W Palm Swell Grips from Midway, Wolff 20# Recoil Springs, a service pak of springs to keep on hand for any repair in the future, change some of the mags yellow followers to white one, checking mag springs. The guns are clean and look if never fired. Mags have no scratches or skid mark. I have to call S&W to see if the decockers are all right, no dimples on either gun by the decocker. If I have to send the guns to S&W do I need them to tune the triggers or would it be better to find a good gunsmith? This is my first adventure with S&W guns so I want opinions and help. Thanks in advance!

There are two recalls regarding these pistols:

I have never done any trigger work on any of the S&W 10xx pistols. They seemed pretty good for a SA/DA pistol. They will never be a tuned 1911 trigger regardless of how much we polish them. Since the guns haven't had the recall work done, send all your yellow follower mags in with them. In the past they have replaced them all with the white follower mags. About that, much has been made about the different mag types. I have owned 30+ of the 10xx line and only 1 has had ANY trouble with the mags. Changing the follower on that mag didn't help, I had to use the Accu-Guide mags and/or dremel out the mag retention hole slightly for it to work. If you use one for defense then by all means don't take any chances and carry Accu-guide mags. Otherwise, you'll find it's quite rare you'll have trouble with the older mags.

Also, have extra parts for insurance, but these pistols are very well designed and well built. You should be able to literally shoot a lifetime without trouble. Get the recall serviced then go shoot 'em! flea.gif
