So I was at the fun shop yesterday and noticed that they had a PS90 on the shelf. I couldnt resist, I had to see it!!

The guy handed it to me and my first thought was "wow, this thing is tiny!!"

It really is, anyone who is thinking they want an SBR version, and not the 16in version.. dont worry about it. even at 16 in barrel the thing is perfect for CQ. Looks like its one heck of a fun peice to shoot as well!!!

My dad pointed out that the stock seemed very heavy, Im not sure why that is...

I like the mag and how the rounds go down, but was not too fond of how the mag gets installed, it didnt look like it can be done while keeping the gun at the ready.

Only other complaint was the forward grip is designed so you have your forward thumb and trigger finger both in the trigger-well. things got a little tighter than I liked. My dad however is a lefty and the thing truly feels ambidextrious.

I am not sure how the thing works, even the gun store monkey didnt know how it worked, but the controls looked easy enough regardless of whether you are right or left handed.

The thing was sweet!!! but they had it listed at 1799!!!!

In any case, we also looked at an HK WLD???
It had a telestock on it, and completely compacted it was just right. nice rifle that!!!

great looking guns, both of them!!! thumbsup.gif

The way the PS90 has to be held with the trigger finger and weak hand thumb sharing the same hole where the trigger is located is not my cup of tea for a decent firearms design.
Though some of the magazines hold 50 rounds, they are not the quickest to do a mag change with and that could be a problem.
Perhaps a fun gun to shoot if you wish to dish out $1500 for it and the size of it and the 5.7x28 rounds may have it's strong points for professional tactical use, but not for me.

They have been selling very well according to a local gun dealer and have a waiting list for more to come in, but it all must have to do with the 'cool factor' of having one rather than any practical use that you can get from any other carbine for a lot less money.

I messed with one Saturday at the gunshop. It was too damn tiny.
I understand the reason for a bullpup. But I stand by my currently held position of many years. They are ugly and I have no use for it. I think they wanted $1700 for this one.

Overall I was unimpressed and felt no tingle or itch to whip out the visa. I'll stick to my Ar15s. Now for the Barrett .50 BMG that was on the counter for $3600.......my hand was shaking trying to get to my wallet. I really need to get a .50.

I can't stand the PS90 and can't see a purpose for it. If you have a ton of money and want to spend it, go ahead. MR461, that is a nice Barrett they have there.

That thing is a work of art. They need to put some lighting effects around or something and play sweet lullaby cherub type music. That thing is gorgeous. Wish I had the money for it. I'd have to sell off half my guns to get it.

They still got that Ak in there and an underfolder, of course when I didn't have any extra cash.......

lol Come on guys, its like they say about genatalia....may look funny but is built for function...and feels pretty darn good in use.
Magazine changes take no longer than on a AK or Mini 14.
and tiny isnt a bad thing for a gun made to replace a 9mm service pistol.
(ment to serve the same exact function as a M1 carbine, as a gun for armor/aircrew/truckdrivers/..... and REMF's in general NOT people that pull triggers on individual small arms as a primary duty.) It dont take the place of an assault rifle....but is easier for a half trained person to be effective with than a service pistol(again M1 carbine primise) and not such a lump to lug around doing other duties as a full blown infantry rifle. in military guise its only 19.75 inches long....thats shorter than most current SMG's and chopped version assault rifles....far less muzzle blast and flash as well for a clerk typist to contend with than a 10" barreled Colt Commando M16(Ive got lots of trigger time on those)
and have we forgot that this little FN was built only because the U.S. Army put out a specification paper for PDW's and solicited companies to build a gun that adhered to this milspec?...no different than how the M1 carbine came into exsistance. Every spec was met by FN for performance of the gun and its ammunition, and passed NATO testing as well.

use what is best for the situation , or what you allowed to have by dept regs simple as that. *my PS90 is about to be SBR'ed back to its original size barrel soon as my cancelled tax stamp comes back from NFA branch.

I also had an opportunity to handle one and I have to admit that it does have a good design. It's short, compact and easy-handling. A truly high-tech carbine platform.

However,
the price tag the round that it's chambered for keep most people from buying. Now if they made it for another pistol round(one that we have ample access too and can easily reload for), it would become more desireable. But since this is a new "high-tech" round, our overbearing government protected us from ourselves by banning good ammunition for it.

I agree with DHC on this one. If they had a version in something like 30 carbine I'd be all over it. Hell, even if I could reload 5.7 with over the counter components I'd probably get one. Too bad the legal bull gimps the thing so severly.

id love to get one as well, but the guns price is a bit much!
Heck, it took me a long time to spring for an M1A which is a bit cheaper!
