So I came into posession of a few different pistols recently. Hk USP40, S&W 686 Distinguished Combat and another one that intrigues me.

It's a German semi auto chambered in 7.65mm. Has Ortgies on the slide, has Imperial crown markings on nearly every major part. About the only thing I can find is that it was a popular bring back for vets of both wars. I got them from my girlfriends dad who said his grandpa or dad brought it back from one of the wars. He thought it was a German officers pistol but I can't find anything about it being used by the Wehrmacht, Luftewaffe or anybody. No NAZI markings on the pistol at all.

Heinrich Ortgies lived in Liege for many years, while in Belgium, he designed an automatic pistol incorporating patents which were granted to him circa 1916 - 1918. After WWI, Ortgies returned to Germany and set up in business in Erfurt manufacturing Ortgies pistols in 7.65mm calibre. Over 10,000 Ortgies pistols were manufactured by 1921 when Deutsche Werke AG purchased the Ortgies patents and machinery, and took up production of pistols in the Ortgies plant. At first under Deutsche Werke, only 7.65mm pistols were manufactured but Ortgies had also prepared designs for pistols chambered in 6.35mm and 9mm Short. 7.65mm pistols were manufactured from 1920 to 1928, 9mm Short pistols were manufactured from 1922 to 1926, and 6.35mm pistols were manufactured from 1921 to 1928.

Appreciate the information. Doesn't sound like anything special really other than a little 7.65 German pistol.

I'm itching to play with the 686 and Hk though.

Also got some other stuff too but nothing overly cool. Couple 12 gauges, 16 gauge and a .30-30. I'm more the semi permanent caretaker for now but I pretty much have free reign with them.
