I seek input from other on this forum concerning the effective use-life for an AR15 lower assembly. Does anyone have a feel or an understanding as to how many rounds can be cycled through a lower assembly before a replacement lower assembly will be necessary? I can not acquire any reasonable answered from DPMS or ARMALITE.

the only parts I could assume might need replacing would be springs occasionally, anything like seer or trigger should be good for your lifetime

assuming you are a "middle class" citizen and not super rich or anything, i don't either one of us could afford to wear out a lower receiver in our lifetime. wink.gif

I have to say with proper maintenance it should last you a lifetime.

I don't think there is any way you could feasibly wear out an Ar-15 lower.

Even M16 lowers last a long time the only thing that can happen to them is the holes for the FCG pins can egg out.

There isn't really any stress on the lower, it's really nothing more than a vessel to hold parts and a place to shove a magazine.

I don't think it will need replacing until a tank runs over it.

Thank you for the informative responses. I am just a middle class guy who desires to enjoy the use of his AR-15 and then past them along to my sons. smile.gif

I've held in my hand an M4 ran over by a HMMT tanker. Lower was fine.

Like Etho said the lower itself should practically never wear out. If you use KNS pins, even a full auto will last damned near for ever. Springs will wear out, but even that would take a long, long time. There are some original Air Force M16's still in service. The Palestinians and Filipinos have some very old M16's as well.
