bent bolt conversions for 91/30 and Mauser 98s

been looking for conversion bolts but all i can find is the ones you have to cut the bolt handle off tap the bolt and srew the new handle on not sure if i trust a srewed on bolt pull any other opptions out there would love to mount scopes but they all require the bent bolt if i have to ship them to someone that really knows what they're doin it would be no prob all sugestions would be greatly appriciated

I did the drill tap bolt for one of my friends on his 98 and used red loc-tite and he has not had a problem yet. It has been about three years and he uses it frequently. Just make sure you do it right if you are going to do this. smile.gif

oh you can be sure if i go that route i have a very quallified smith that will do it for me thanks for the input

IIRC, there's a guy on "That Big Auction Site" that will convert YOUR bolt for about $40-$50. It's not a "cut off handle, tap, screw new one". From his pictures, it looks almost factory made. I haven't done it yet, but have been considering that over the other option.

Just do a search on 'Mosin Nagant Bolt'.

If I were to do this to any of my guns, I think I'd rather give it to a 'smith to cut off and re-weld the bolt handle. I know some have probably used the one with the bolt-on kit, but that wouldn't make me too confident.
