Well this day has finally made it.
Tonight my oldest son Ian (13) and I will be heading down to Southern Ohio to tent camp for the next 9 days. This weekend we will bowhunt and Monday starts our gun season and my muzzleloader is more than ready to help collect backstraps for the freezer.
I wait all year for this.
I get 2 weeks of vacation every year. The first week of December is always my first week off to be in the woods. The second week starts after Christmass when our primative weapons seaon comes in.
I think I must be nuts, working all year and taking both weeks of vacation in the same month.
It's worth every minute of working all year though.
I will check back in with you all on December 7th, unless I get a wallhanger, then I will swing home post a pic, drop him off at the taxidermist and head straight back to the tent and continue whacking flatheads.
Be cool guys, see ya later. smile.gif

Well we made it back OK. We froze our butts off in the tent but still had a great time. My hunting partner whacked 3 doe's and a big bodied 6 pointer. I got 2 fat old doe's for the freezer. The very best part of the entire trip was getting a chance to spend some good one on one time with my son and bonding in ways that most folks cannot comprehend. We talked about everything and anything you could possibly imagine. We even had "The Talk" so to speak.
Ian did ok for a younger hunter considering the temperatures we were hunting in. We are looking forward to our extra weekend of gun season in a couple of weeks and then our muzzleloader season directly after that.
I pass on a ton of smaller deer and some decent bucks as well. Somewhere along the line I have focused most of my efforts on one particular monster buck and I hope I have made the right decision to wait him out. I will bowhunt his old ass up until the begining of February when our season ends if I have to.
I wish I had a picture of this buck to show you guys. This is truely a trophy buck of a lifetime and I want him so bad I can taste it. Literally.
I will get some pics up of the other deer soon.
