Anyone use one? I want to go out this fall/winter with my son and we tent, I was thinking an in tent heater might be good for "just in case" reasons. Not to stay toasty all night long...any advice is appreciated...

I have an older Coleman model, small one. It will warm your hands, don't expect a hell of a lot. I use it in the duck blind to keep my hands useable. I also use it in a camper I stay in while on pdog hunts. It will keep a closed room a few degrees warmer-comfortable enough. And this is the smallest Coleman model. I don't think you'd be impressed in a tent though, too much heat loss.

OH yeah, "The Little Heater Buddy".

Its fantastic. Its catalytic so no CO, has two power settings 4K BTU and 9K BTU, pilot light with button ignition, safety tilt off, and most important a low oxygen shutoff. On the 4K btu setting you get about six hours per small tank which is a good nights sleep amount. They also sell an adapter to hook it up to a 20 gallon tank.

They make a "Big Heater Buddy" which uses two tanks but it really goes through the propane with outputs from 4K to 18K btu. I'd rather have two of the little ones, which I do.

I have four of the catalytic heaters. I have two different Colemans and two Mr Heater Buddys. I prefer the Mr. Heater Buddy over the Coleman's hands down. My Colemans do not have tilt off, no low oxygen shutoff, and are more easy to get burned or melt something on. They have their place though, they are more compact.

First time I camped using my Coleman, I thought my tent was vented properly but was kind of shocked the next morning when my Zippo wouldn't light.

Still in all fairness, they simply work fantastic in like a 7X7 low profile. Larger than that, they will heat the tent up but not as warm as a house on the low setting. In say a 12x12 standup in tent, you would need two of them or the Big Heater Buddy.

I got one when I took the wife to Yosemite.
We camped in a foot of snow for three nights and it was enough to keep a 4 person tent warm
and keep the wife comfortable. But we also have 0" degree rated bags as well.
