The Decker Buck (aka The Field and Stream Buck), Buffalo County, Wisconsin
UPDATE (11/06/08): 16 Scorable Points
We rarely talk about hunting outside of New York but in this case we must.
If you have been following the latest in whitetail news then you may be familiar with the Field & Stream buck, which was caught on video in the summer of 2008. Many have speculated that the buck will be the new world record typical whitetail.
On November 1, 2008, Bob Decker of Eau Claire, Wisconsin successfully harvested the buck in Buffalo County, Wisconsin. How far he was from the actual field where the buck was filmed in is not known to us. We have seen some speculation on other Websites that Decker was within a half mile of where the video was taken.
Many speculated when the video surfaced that this Buffalo County, Wisconsin buck would challenge Milo Hanson for the new world record. No one will know until the buck is scored but if you take a look at the Hanson buck below you will see that the Hanson buck has very few deductions compared to the Decker buck, which appears as though it is going to have a few. No one will know until it is officially scored. A monster buck nonetheless and congrats to Bob.
