has anyone ever used the lasermax internal sight in a PT 1911 or an XD 45acp . I'm looking at the CT grips, but they need me to modify the ambi safety on the 1911 and i really dont want to do that.

Are you talking about the solid guide rod laser models. If you are i was going to go that route but found out that they do not hold up to the shock of the gun being fired. Never actually bought one but asked a zillion questions about them and decided to spend my money on a crimson trace. Just my 2 cents. flea.gif

Crimson Trace is the way to go. Knowing someone who works there, and trusting his opinion, if I were to mount ANY laser to a gun, it would be something from CT.

Louie has a couple and let me try it out for my Sig. I like the design as its not intrusive. Guaranteed No holster issues(Same as CT) all internal, still use factory grips. the list goes on.

My issue is they really are for night and night alone. Outside of about 10 yards the dot becomes very hard to see in daylight.

The other thing I really did not like was the on/off switch. It was hard enough to push that sometimes you wanted another hand. when drawing fast, switching that on vs. the grip pressure pas on the CT, the CT wins of course...

That being said, I loved playing with it and shooting from odd positions angles is done with ease! shooting while your on the ground, on you knees, one handed over your shoulder under your arm, upside down, around a corner, its incredible the ease you can accurately shoot!!!

So here i am selling myself on one again... I need to pick up a CT so I can see how it compares to the lasermax...

FWIW - lasermax is now also making a rail mounted laser(with rail underneath so you can still put a light on) and CT style grip lasers as well.
I still think the CTs are supposed to be brighter though.

Learn to shoot without it and save yourself money. Not being a smart ass but my serious opinion about lasers. They are compsenating for lack of skills in my opinion.

I must agree, had never played with em till a couple weeks ago and then got to play with one on a Sig and another one on a Glock & they are nice little toys but one you need discipline to not rely on all the time. Seems both guys shooting the guns were depending on the little red dot to tell em where to shoot instead of the front sight & to me this is not very good.

It was not real bright out & they seemed to get washed out around 15-20 feet, but the shooters kept looking for the dot.

I'd personally rather spend the money on ammo & shoot more thumb.gif thumb.gif
