I already have a beautiful AR and I think it is time I find a AK so I can Have one of each. I was wanting to know what I should look for in an AK-47. Is there a specific brand or manufacture that I should look for, is there anything on the weapon itself I should keep an eye out for. Any info will help.

What is your price range?

Are you thinking @$500 or @7-900?

A $500 AK would be great if it were worth it, but I might be willing t to settle for something in the $700 range.

The Romanian WASRs can be had in the $429 range right now in GA, but they are the low end of the AK world. If you can find an Arsenal AK, go for it.

I'd look into a Romy G kit build from Arizona Response Systems as a good starting point.

He is a great builder. I think that he is out of them right now. He is the one I had build my kit.

You live in his state too smile.gif

The "G"s he was selling looked fantastic and were right around $630 IIRC.

I wish I had snapped one up when i did. I don't have a fixed stock stamped gun right now. All of mine are folders.

To the OP, another option is to find and "de-ban" a straight cut receiver MAK90. For the money, the quality can't be beat. The chinese guns really are amazingly well built.

I have been over to his shop. You would go nuts seeing what he has there. It was also nice seeing all these AKs lined up.

He was picked as SAR gunsmith of the year.

http://shop.hendersondefense.biz/category.sc?categoryId=4 is getting a good rep for what they term their "certified" AK rifles.

Henderson is one of my favorite dealers/builders. They do excellent work.

Unfortunately I believe they are out of stock on just about everything except maybe a few tantals. ROn said he may be getting more "certified" Romy guns in late December.
