The Gun show at Dulles Expo Center began a three day run Friday. I couldn't believe the abundance of new ARs I found there. I couldn't resist--bought my first AR, even though I had already ordered a Bushmaster. No more counting the days. What did I buy? Rock River Arms. Why? Because it was there. Here's how the case label is marked:

Cal: .223
Model: Elite
Type: A4
Grips: Ergo
Stock: 6-Pos.
HandGrd: SureFire M82 Rifle Length quad rail
Options: Flip-up Gas Block site

Not marked on the label, but nevertheless on the rifle, is an RRA Tactical Muzzle Brake and an A.R.M.S. rear flip-up site. Now, to figure out what all that means...

I'll try to post pictures as soon as I can if anyone is interested.

Congrats IrishEyes on the new AR, one thing you will need to verify is make sure the barrel is stamped .223 or is it stamped 5.56? I think it should be stamped 5.56 / .223
Reasoning I am asking is if you do in fact have a .223 barrel, the Rifle will not function properly if you try to shoot 5.56 ammo in it.
and yes photos.gif please

Thanks for the heads-up! I can't see any stamp on the part of the barrel that's exposed. I'll have to check under the rail for the stamp (if I can figure out how to remove it). The RRA catalog identifies the Elite series as .223/5.56 but I don't plan on buying any 5.56 ammo.

The SureFire rail I identified as an M82 is actually the mid-length M85.

Congrats on the AR! thumb.gif

ETA: You're good to go with 5.56 ammo. The Elite series Rock Rivers are .223/5.56 (both).

I see that the lower receiver is stamped CAL 5.56 MM. The Rock River catalog pics seem to have the 5.56 stamp on the Elite series (and others) lowers and, as you noted, .223/5.56 for the Elite chambers. I haven't removed the quad rail yet to see what the barrel stamp says. I guess I'll need a handguard removal tool to make things easier.

You don't need to remove it unless you just want to. They are marked .223/5.56 to let you know that you can use 5.56 ammo. If it only said .223 then it would be a .223 only upper. You're GTG.
