Looking at 2 Smiths on another forum,

One, A no Dash 4" 66. Looks like it's well used, no flame cutting, wood Hogue grips SN 2K4XXX. Priced at $425 shipped. Sounds good to me, but it's been listed for a while with no bites.

Second, a 4" 629, supposedly with 12 rounds through it. Turn line is very, very faint, possible light flame cut on top strap, I'm waiting on owner confirmation on that. Price is $650 shipped. Again, sounds decent. Not a steal, but the 4 inchers seem to be in demand.

$425 is a decent price for a nice revolver.

I would pick up the 66.

Granted I am not a fan of buying revolvers without seeing them, but that is a good price IMHO...

1. It is well used. It is a no dash pistol. $425 would seem high to me.

2. They are starting to get some good money for the 629s. I think that is the going price for one.

Well, the 629 is out. The top strap looks flame cut, and the guy won't confirm one way or the other or give me any kind of specs (cylinder gap, etc). It's at the extreme upper limit of my budget, so I'd rather not take the chance.

Oddly enough, I found a 4" 29-2 yesterday for $530 shipped. Like the 66, it's pretty well used, but well maintained. Turn line like crazy, lots of holster wear (75% bluing). I think the price is a little high, I might see if I can get a little knocked off of that. If I can get it transferred for less than an arm and a leg I'll probably pick it up. If that falls though I'll start negotiating on the 66.

Thanks guys.
