i've caught a lot of shit about this one. i was sitting in my stand, not seeing anyting at all when my fianced pulled into my house and texted me that there were two deer standing out in the other field. i fuzzin hauled ass running as it was getting dark, but i tagged this deer right before dark. barely.

she is pissed as hell that she contributed to "murder". animlol.gif

it was around 400 yards. i missed the first shot and figured i shot low. i was using my second mil dot. next shot i aimed a bit higher and plowed him. i thought it was a doe, but it was another button buck, damn it. it was so close to dark that i couldn't tell. doh.gif

oh well. my aunt is REALLY poor and we are headed to NC tomorrow, so the timing was pefect. thumb.gif she actually cried when i told her i was bringing her a deer. thumb.gif

i hung him up and i'll dress him out in tbe morining. i gutted him tonight but i'll quarter him up tomorrow morning. smile.gif

400 yards ain't damn bad. oh yea.gif

it is my longest shot to date. damn, i love my 308.

Good job Stu, and glad you can get it to some one that really appreciates the fine eating.

My wife took her first deer (a doe) this evening with my 30-06. One shot in the neck at around 150 yds. (she was aiming at the center of the chest, but the end result was the same).

Very cool Stu. I am glad you were able to one more when you thought that you may not get a chance to get back out. Your Aunt will be happy to recieve some wintertime table fare I am sure.
Good luck to your hunting party in NC.
It sounds like you made a pretty good shot. 400 yards can seem like a mile sometimes. Awesome.

ok, i accidentally exagerated the shot distance. i hit it with my range finder this morning on my way out and it was reading 337 yards.

it sure seemed like 400 to me. doh.gif
