Go MR! boogie.gif

This is a great start. Let's use it for the kernel of the FAQ, and grow it right here where it lay now.

Thank you for getting this started.

I reload because I like to shoot....it's hard to budget for 400 rds of each caliber/month, so to free up some cash, I started rolling my own.

Reloading is definitely NOT a hobby--it's a chore that enables me to pursue my hobby.

I wish I had seen this thread before I started....would have saved a lot of time and stupid questions. Good job Maniac!

For some it is though. Benchrest shooters get into reloading as much or more than shooting.

Great post, ManicRat!

I am looking to get into reloading, but really didn't know where to start. Your post (and TJs) was very helpful for this noob.

Hey NorCal - yea. You need to get into reloading for a wide variety of reasons.

The posts TJ & MR put up here are a great start. Next - go get yourself a good manual. The guys really like the ABC's of Reloading. Myself, I like the manufacturers manuals. The one from Sierra is partcularly good.

Get the book - after that things will be clear. And in the books (the Sierra manual at least) there's always an interesting paragraph or two of the history behind each round at the beging of the load data section.

OMG. I think my brain is going to esplode. The A.D.D. is in over drive.

I would like to thank TJ & MR, for taking the time to "open the gate" and clear the path.

Can I use black powder in 5.56 in a .223 chamber with lead WC bullets?

Great post.

I love getting great accuracy from my AR and showing the "Fudds" my weapon can produce results as good as or better than thier bolt guns. Not saying the AR is a better platform, but you can attain very good accuracy results with a little patience an effort.

Good topic, I find reloading relaxing and fun. I use a lee classic cast 4 hole turret. Cabela's has it in a kit with most of what you need to get started except for dies. About 150 for the kit 30 bucks for a 4 die carbide set that never needs lubricating. I love it! Oh, and spent 20 bucks on the Auto Prime, it's worth it. Have fun. bigsmile.gif
