From Michael Yon’s On-Line Magazine

Do you know what this is?

The RPG in the foreground provides a reference for dimensions

The recent loss of five helicopters in Iraq has caught the attention of the media. Also in the media is all the new talk of Iranian influence on weapons in Iraq, although my readers learned about the issue more than a month ago in Walking the Line (Part Two of Three).
In the face of all this “new” controversy about “foreign” weapons in the battle space, I recalled some of the many photos I’ve taken of caches of weapons captured by Iraqi and American forces in Iraq. The photo above is from one of these.
None of the military persons who’ve seen the photo were able to identify the weapon depicted in it.

Do you know what it is?

Do you know where it came from?

Me too. A neighbor built one to shoot tennis balls. It is about 250 feet from our houses to the woods behind us and he regularly puts them into the trees. A little better choice as they are reusable. But, I have seen potatoes go much farther.

I haven't messed with them since high school.

But they were fun. Best fun was to get a zip lock baggy fill it cream corn, beans or something like that and make a shot load. Would spray cream corn everywhere.

Aquanet hairspray made the best propellant using a bbq pit ignitor attached to two screws drilled into the "chamber".

Are they actually illegal? I've always wondered. Never really cared, I did get one confiscated by a county mountme once. He laughed and I heard they got a lot of fun out of it.

There great fun.. I even made one that uses compressed air. I would shoot a spud a good 4 times further then a hair spray spudzuka..

Start with just the right spud

Fit it in the barrel

Ram it home

Attach the air compressor hose.

Max out the psi animlol.gif

And launch across the lake a good 400 – 500+ yards
