Arms 40

I bought a arms 40 a while back and then bought another for my last project, the first the 300m peep hole was cut flat on the top and where painted white. Is this an option or did the dealer do something to them?

Mine is the same way. (Purchased mine through Bushmaster when I bought my carbine).

That is the 40 Stand alone, the 40A2 does not have the cut and neither does the 40L or the Lsp

What the purpose for the cut? I hope it wasn't for something good and if it was could I send my new one to get it cut, as well?
